Adjusting Cave Dust, Acceleration Change Chance, and Temperature Ranges in Particular ✨

guide

Particular ✨ exposes several visual and environmental settings through its interface, and this guide covers the cave dust options, the acceleration change chance, and the minimum and maximum temperature values. All of these are adjusted from the mod's own menus rather than through crafting or item use. Open the relevant settings screen from the mod interface, then change the values described below.

Cave Dust Settings

caveDustSettings is the group that controls how cave dust appears and behaves. Treat it as the parent entry for the dust-related options: open it to reach the individual controls that shape the dust effect. Because it is a settings group rather than a toggle, you do not switch it on or off directly — you expand it and adjust what sits inside.

When you want the dust to look or act differently in caves, this is the section to visit. Changes you make here apply to the dust rendering governed by this group.

Acceleration Change Chance

accelChangeChance sets how often the acceleration of the affected effect changes. Raising or lowering this value alters the likelihood that a change in acceleration occurs, which in turn affects how the motion reads on screen.

To operate it, open the settings area containing accelChangeChance and move the value up or down to suit the look you want. A higher chance means acceleration changes happen more readily; a lower chance means they happen less often. If you are tuning cave dust motion, adjust this alongside caveDustSettings so the two work together.

Minimum and Maximum Temperature

minTemp and maxTemp define the lower and upper bounds of the temperature range. minTemp is the Minimum Temperature, and maxTemp is the Maximum Temperature. They are a pair: the minimum sets the floor of the range, and the maximum sets the ceiling.

To adjust them, open the settings screen where both appear and change each value. Keep the minimum at or below the maximum so the range stays valid. If you only need to shift the whole range upward or downward, move both values in the same direction; if you need to widen or narrow the span, change one relative to the other.

Other Settings in the Same Area

While you are in these menus, you may also encounter related visual toggles and groups. These are separate from the cave dust and temperature controls, but they live in the same settings space:

  • frequencyModifiers — Frequency Modifiers
  • soulSandBubbles — Chest Bubbles from Soul Sand
  • waterDripRipples — Water Drip Ripples
  • cakeEatingParticles — Cake Eating Particles
  • emissiveLavaDrips — Emissive Lava Drips
  • fallingLeavesSettings — Falling Leaves Settings
  • layFlatOnGround — Lay Flat on the Ground
  • layFlatRightAngles — Right Angle Snap When Laying Flat

Each of these is adjusted the same way: open its entry in the interface and change the value or toggle it. fallingLeavesSettings is a group, like caveDustSettings, so open it to reach the options inside. layFlatOnGround and layFlatRightAngles are toggles that control laying flat behaviour and the right-angle snap that applies when laying flat.

Using Hotkeys

Some actions in Particular ✨ are bound to hotkeys rather than menu entries. Where an action has a hotkey, use the corresponding hotkey — set it in the controls menu if you want to change it. Do not assume a default key for any action unless the interface states one explicitly.

Practical Tips

  • Change one value at a time so you can see what each setting does.
  • Keep minTemp at or below maxTemp at all times.
  • Tune accelChangeChance together with caveDustSettings when adjusting dust motion.
  • Reopen the settings screen if a change does not appear immediately, and confirm the value saved.
