Toggling and Tuning Ambient Effects in Particular ✨
Particular ✨ lets you switch individual ambient effects on or off and adjust how often they appear. This guide covers the toggles for soul sand bubbles, water drip ripples, cake eating particles, and emissive lava drips, along with the frequency controls that govern how frequently these effects trigger.
Turning Effects On and Off
Each ambient effect has its own toggle. Find the matching entry in the mod's interface and switch it to change whether that effect appears at all.
- Chest Bubbles from Soul Sand — controls the bubble effect produced by soul sand.
- Water Drip Ripples — controls the ripples that form where water drips.
- Cake Eating Particles — controls the particles shown when cake is eaten.
- Emissive Lava Drips — controls the glowing drip effect associated with lava.
If you want an effect gone entirely, turn its toggle off. If you want it back, turn it on again. These are independent, so you can keep some effects and remove others.
Frequency Modifiers
Frequency Modifiers is the setting group that determines how often ambient effects occur. Use it when an effect is enabled but appears too often or too rarely for your taste. Rather than removing an effect completely, you can leave it on and tune its rate here.
Temperature Range
Two settings define a temperature range that the frequency behaviour respects:
- Minimum Temperature
- Maximum Temperature
Adjust these to set the lower and upper bounds of the range. Effects tied to this range will follow the limits you choose. Keep the minimum below the maximum so the range stays valid.
Falling Leaves Settings
Falling Leaves Settings groups the options for falling leaf behaviour. It contains two related toggles:
- Lay Flat on the Ground — makes leaves lie flat once they reach the ground.
- Right Angle Snap When Laying Flat — snaps leaves to right angles while they lie flat.
Enable Lay Flat on the Ground if you want leaves to settle flat instead of resting at other angles. Enable Right Angle Snap When Laying Flat if you additionally want that flat resting position aligned to right angles. The snap option is meaningful in combination with laying flat.
Cave Dust Settings
Cave Dust Settings groups the options for cave dust behaviour. It includes:
- Acceleration Change Chance — controls the chance that the acceleration of cave dust changes.
Raise or lower this value to make cave dust change its acceleration more or less often.
How to Operate These Settings
Open the mod's interface and locate the setting you want. Toggle effects on or off with their switches, and adjust numeric values such as Minimum Temperature, Maximum Temperature, and Acceleration Change Chance by editing the value shown. Group headings like Frequency Modifiers, Falling Leaves Settings, and Cave Dust Settings collect related options together so you can find them in one place.
If a setting is bound to a hotkey, use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu). No default key is assumed here; assign one yourself if you want quick access.
Suggested Approach
Start by deciding which effects you want at all. Turn off the ones you do not want, using the toggles for Chest Bubbles from Soul Sand, Water Drip Ripples, Cake Eating Particles, and Emissive Lava Drips. For the effects you keep, use Frequency Modifiers to tune how often they appear, and set Minimum Temperature and Maximum Temperature to define the range that applies. Then move on to the grouped options: configure Falling Leaves Settings with Lay Flat on the Ground and Right Angle Snap When Laying Flat, and configure Cave Dust Settings with Acceleration Change Chance. Revisit the values whenever the result feels too busy or too sparse.
