Ping Wheel Minecraft Mod: Basic Controls and Settings Guide
Ping Wheel is a communication tool that lets you send location markers and other signals to other players, and this page covers its basic controls and how to reach its settings screen.
Opening the Settings Interface
The mod's configuration screen is titled Ping Wheel Settings. You reach it by triggering the action described in-game as "open configuration interface." That action is bound to a hotkey rather than a crafted item, so assign it the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu before you try to use it. Once pressed, the settings interface appears and you can adjust the mod's options from there.
The Core Control
The main control is a hold action. Holding the relevant key opens the ping selection, letting you pick which ping to send. As with the settings action, the specific key is yours to choose: set the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu.
Player Info
Player Info displays information about a player. The mod's own tooltip explains that this information appears while the Player Info key bind is held down. Like the other actions, this is not a fixed key — set the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu.
Channels
Channels decide who can see your pings. Pings are only sent to, and received from, players who share your channel, so everyone you want to communicate with needs to be on the same one.
- Get current channel reports which channel you are on.
- Set channel changes it; supplying the default placeholder value puts you back on the default channel.
- When no custom channel is active, the mod reports that you are currently using the default channel.
- Setting the channel to the default value is reported as setting the channel to default.
- Channel names have a maximum length. If you exceed it, the mod rejects the name and tells you names are limited to a set number of characters.
Default Channel Mode
- Get default channel mode reports the mode currently in effect.
- Set default channel mode changes it.
- Both actions respond with the current or newly set mode so you can confirm the change.
- If you supply a mode the mod does not recognise, it rejects the input and lists the valid options.
Player Tracking
- Check player tracking reports whether tracking is currently on or off.
- Enable or disable player tracking toggles it, and the mod confirms the new state.
Ping Usage Limits
Two settings govern how often you can send pings.
- Time to regenerate controls how long you wait before ping usages come back. You can read the current value or set a new one, and the mod confirms both.
- Rate limit controls how many ping usages you get. As with the regeneration time, you can read the current rate limit or change it.
Location Ping Alert
The Location Ping Alert feature is listed among the mod's settings. It relates to the alerts you receive for location pings.
Direction Indicator
The Direction Indicator setting has a visibility option. When the direction indicator is set to visible, it is shown; the setting controls whether it appears.
Summary of Controls
- Opening the settings interface: use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu).
- Sending pings: hold the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu).
- Viewing Player Info: hold the Player Info key bind (set it in the controls menu).
Every one of these actions is assigned through the controls menu rather than being fixed, so check your bindings there before relying on any of them.
