Configuring the Ping Wheel, Direction Indicator, and Location Ping Alerts
Ping Wheel settings control how pings are sent, how the direction indicator behaves, and how location ping alerts work. Everything below is handled through the mod's configuration interface and its hotkeys, not through crafting or items.
Opening the Settings
The configuration screen is reached through the action described as opening the configuration interface. Use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to trigger it. Once open, the screen is labelled Ping Wheel Settings.
Channels
Pings only travel between players who share the same channel. If you and another player are on different channels, neither of you will send or receive the other's pings.
You can check which channel you are currently on with the "get your current channel" action. The response reports your channel, or tells you that you are currently using the default channel.
To change it, use the "set your channel" action. Entering an empty value switches you to the default channel. There is also a dedicated action to set your channel back to default, and a matching response confirming it. Channel names cannot exceed a fixed maximum length; names longer than that are rejected.
Default Channel Mode
The default channel mode determines how the default channel is handled. You can query it with the "get the current default channel mode" action, which reports the mode in use. To change it, use the "set the default channel mode" action, which confirms the new mode. If you enter something that is not a recognised mode, it is rejected and the valid options are listed.
Player Tracking
Player tracking can be switched on or off. One action reports whether tracking is currently enabled; another turns it on or off. The responses confirm the state before and after the change, so you can verify what happened.
Ping Usage Limits
Two settings govern how often pings can be used.
The first is the regeneration time — how long you wait before ping usages come back. You can read the current value with the "get the current time to regenerate ping usages" action, and change it with the "set the time to regenerate ping usages" action. Both actions return a confirmation showing the value.
The second is the rate limit for ping usages. Read it with the "get the current rate limit for ping usages" action and change it with the "set the rate limit for ping usages" action. As with regeneration, the current value is reported back to you.
Direction Indicator
The direction indicator is a visual aid. Its visibility is controlled by the direction indicator visible setting under the Direction Indicator section. Toggle it to show or hide the indicator.
Location Ping Alert
Location Ping Alert is a separate feature in the settings. It governs alerts tied to location pings.
Player Info
Player Info appears while a key bind is held down. The relevant setting is a key bind you assign yourself; the tooltip explains that Player Info is displayed for as long as that bind is held. Set the bind in the controls menu, then hold it whenever you want the info shown.
Correction Period
Correction Period is a setting listed alongside the other options. Adjust it in the configuration interface to change how the correction period is applied.
