Ping Wheel Player Tracking, Ping Rate Limits, and Regeneration Timing
Ping Wheel gives you a way to send quick location pings to other players, and a set of settings that control who can see those pings and how often you can send them. This page covers three connected areas: tracking other players, the limit on how many pings you can use, and when that limit refills.
Player Tracking
Player tracking is the switch that decides whether the mod keeps tabs on other players at all. You can query its current state, or flip it on and off.
- Use the check if player tracking is currently enabled action to see whether tracking is active. The mod answers with a line reporting the present state.
- Use the enable or disable the tracking of players action to change it. The mod confirms the new state after the change.
If you want to see information about a player, that readout appears while the relevant key bind is held down. The Player Info display is tied to holding that bind, so it shows only for as long as you keep it pressed. The key itself is not fixed here — assign it yourself in the controls menu under the corresponding hotkey.
Channels
Pings only travel between players who share a channel. Nothing is sent to or received from anyone outside your channel.
- To see which channel you are on, use the get your current channel action. The reply shows the channel name in quotes.
- To change it, use the set your channel action. Passing an empty value selects the default channel.
- When you are on the default channel, the mod tells you so, and you can also reset back to it with the set channel to default action.
- Channel names have a maximum length. If you go over it, the mod refuses the change and tells you the limit.
There is also a default channel mode you can read and write:
- The get the current default channel mode action reports which mode is active.
- The set the default channel mode action changes it. If you supply something unrecognised, the mod rejects it and lists the modes that are accepted.
Ping Rate Limits and Regeneration
Sending pings is capped. The cap is expressed as a rate limit, and used-up pings come back after a regeneration period.
- The get the current rate limit for ping usages action reports the present cap.
- The set the rate limit for ping usages action changes that cap to a value you choose.
- The get the current time to regenerate ping usages action reports how long the refill takes.
- The set the time to regenerate ping usages action changes that duration.
Raising the rate limit lets you fire off more pings before you run out. Shortening the regeneration time makes each spent ping return sooner. Both settings are read and written the same way: ask for the current value, then supply a new one.
Location Ping Alert and Direction Indicator
Two display options round out the ping experience.
- Location Ping Alert is a feature you can turn on so incoming location pings are brought to your attention.
- The Direction Indicator can be made visible or hidden. Its direction indicator visible setting controls whether the indicator is drawn.
Opening Settings and Holding Pings
The configuration interface is opened through the open configuration interface action, which is where the Ping Wheel Settings screen lives. Note that some interactions depend on holding rather than tapping: the Hold control, and the key bind that reveals Player Info, both require you to keep the input down. Set that bind in the controls menu, since no default is given here.
A practical order of operations: confirm tracking is on, pick a channel both you and your recipients use, then tune the rate limit and regeneration time to suit how often you expect to ping.
