Rats Mod Machines Guide: Crafting, Chef, Smelting, Campfire, and Blasting
Overview
This guide explains the five machine-based processing systems in the Rats mod: the Crafting recipes, the Chef, Smelting, Campfire Cooking, and Blasting. Each system handles different materials and outputs, so knowing which one to use saves time and resources.
Crafting
The Crafting system contains 203 recipes, making it the largest processing category. It handles basic item transformation and dyeing of rat-related blocks.
- Food and material compression: Combine 9 Carrots into
Assorted Vegetables, or 9 Filth into a
Ball of Filth. You can also turn 8 Raw Cod plus a Barrel into a
Barrel of Fish. - Banner patterns: Combine a
Block of Cheese,
Rat Skull, or
Rat Pelt with Paper to create the corresponding Banner Pattern. - Cheese blocks: Craft 4 Cheese into a
Block of Cheese, 4 Blue Cheese into a
Block of Blue Cheese, and 4 Nether Cheese into a
Block of Nether Cheese. Reverse the process to break blocks back into individual cheese items. You can also make a
Block of Blue Cheese directly from a Block of Cheese, Sugar, and a Brown Mushroom. - Rat furniture dyeing: All furniture starts as a white version. For example, combine 2 String, 1 Cheese, and 3 Black Wool to make a
Black Rat Hammock. Alternatively, dye an existing white item: a
White Rat Hammock plus black dye becomes a
Black Rat Hammock. The same pattern applies to Rat Igloos and
Rat Tubes (8 tubes dye at once). This works with blue, brown, and other dye colors. - Miscellaneous: A
Rat Skull smashes into Bone Meal.
Chef
The Chef is a specialized cooking station with only 4 recipes. It transforms raw ingredients into prepared dishes.
Assorted Vegetables become
Confit Byaldi.
Coal turns into
Little Black Squash Balls.- A
Centipede becomes
Potato Knishes.
Cheese becomes
String Cheese.
Unlike Smelting, the Chef does not use fuel or heat; it processes items directly.
Smelting
The Smelting system has 2 recipes and works like a standard furnace. It requires fuel and produces cooked or refined outputs.
Raw Rat smelts into
Cooked Rat.
Plastic Waste smelts into
Raw Plastic.
Use Smelting when you need a standard furnace-based conversion, especially for plastic processing.
Campfire Cooking
Campfire Cooking has only 1 recipe. It works like a campfire, cooking items slowly without a furnace.
Raw Rat cooks into
Cooked Rat.
This is a slower alternative to Smelting for the same meat, useful when you lack fuel or want to cook multiple items at once.
Blasting
The Blasting system has 1 recipe. It functions like a blast furnace, processing materials faster than standard Smelting.
Plastic Waste blasts into
Raw Plastic.
Use Blasting when you have plastic waste and want a quicker turnaround than Smelting provides.
Choosing the Right Machine
- Use Crafting for cheese blocks, banner patterns, rat furniture dyeing, and item compression.
- Use Chef for the four specific prepared food recipes.
- Use Smelting or Blasting for
Raw Rat and
Plastic Waste; Blasting is faster for plastic. - Use Campfire Cooking only when you want to cook
Raw Rat without a furnace.
Each machine has a distinct role, and none of them overlap except for the two ways to cook
Raw Rat and the two ways to process
Plastic Waste.
