Rat Upgrades Guide: From Basic to Advanced

guide

Overview

This guide covers all rat upgrades, from basic to advanced, with crafting recipes and uses.

Rat Upgrade: Basic

The Rat Upgrade: Basic is the foundation for every other upgrade. It can be crafted in two ways: a shaped recipe using eight Cheese arranged around the crafting grid, or a shapeless recipe combining a Rat Upgrade Block with nothing else.

Health Upgrade

The Rat Upgrade: Health increases a rat's maximum health. Craft it with four Bread, four Glistering Melon Slice, and one Rat Upgrade: Basic in a shaped pattern.

Strength Upgrade

The Rat Upgrade: Strength boosts a rat's attack power. The shaped recipe requires four bones (any type from the forge bone tag), two Iron Sword, two Iron Ingot, and one Rat Upgrade: Basic.

Speed Upgrade

The Rat Upgrade: Speed makes a rat move faster. To craft it, combine four Redstone Dust, four blocks of redstone (any forge storage block tag for redstone), and one Rat Upgrade: Basic in a shaped arrangement.

Armor Upgrade

The Rat Upgrade: Armor gives a rat protective plating. The shaped recipe uses six Iron Ingot, one Shield, one Rat Upgrade: Basic, and one block of iron (any forge storage block tag for iron).

Warrior Upgrade

The Rat Upgrade: Warrior is the most advanced upgrade, combining the effects of health, strength, and armor into a single powerful enhancement. Its shaped recipe requires four diamonds (any forge gem tag for diamond), one Diamond Sword, one Rat Upgrade: Health, one Rat Upgrade: Strength, one Rat Upgrade: Armor, and one block of diamond (any forge storage block tag for diamond).

How Upgrades Are Used

All upgrades are applied directly to a rat. Each upgrade occupies a slot on the rat's upgrade interface, and a rat can hold multiple upgrades simultaneously. The Rat Upgrade: Basic is only useful as a crafting component—it provides no benefit on its own. The health, strength, speed, and armor upgrades each modify one specific stat. The Warrior upgrade is a composite that grants the combined benefits of the health, strength, and armor upgrades in a single slot, which is useful when you want to save upgrade slots for other purposes.

Crafting Order

Start by making a Rat Upgrade: Basic, then use it to craft the health, strength, speed, or armor upgrades. To make a Warrior upgrade, you must first have the health, strength, and armor upgrades ready, since they are all required ingredients. Note that the Warrior upgrade does not require a Rat Upgrade: Basic directly, but it does require the three stat upgrades that each needed one.
