Real Camera Guide: Offset, Rotation, Smoothing, Scale, and Adjust Modes
Real Camera changes how the first-person view behaves, and most of its tuning happens through its interface and hotkeys rather than through crafting. This guide covers the settings that control where the camera sits, how it turns, how smoothly it moves, how large its offsets are, and the two adjust modes you can switch between.
Reaching the Settings
Some options are handled directly through hotkeys, while detailed configuration lives on a dedicated screen. The action For detailed settings, please go to the screen requires you to assign a key in the controls menu before it can be opened. Related actions include Open Model View Screen, Open Global Config Screen (which needs Cloth Config API), Toggle Adjust Mode, and Toggle Camera Mode. Wherever a specific key is not stated, use the corresponding hotkey and set it yourself in the controls menu.
Offset and Rotation
The camera does not have to sit exactly at the head. centerOffset shifts the point the camera rotates around away from the head, while classicOffset sets how far the camera sits from that rotation point. In classic terms, the player's forward, upward, and left directions correspond to the X, Y, and Z axes.
Rotation is handled separately. cameraRotation adds extra rotation measured in degrees, with pitch, yaw, and roll turning around the left, up, and front axes in that order.
scale controls how large the offsets are.
Smoothing
Two factors decide how fluid the camera feels. rotationSmoothFactor governs turning: raising it produces smoother rotation. displacementSmoothFactor governs movement: raising it produces smoother displacement.
Adjusting the Camera
Pressing the adjustment key lets you change either the camera's offset or its rotation, depending on the mode. adjustStep sets how much each step moves — a length, or one hundredth of an angle.
classicAdjustMode decides which of the two you are changing when you press the adjustment key. isClassic describes what classic mode does: it only applies straightforward changes to the camera's position and rotation.
Adjust Mode Actions and Configuration Index
You can move between saved setups with Switch to next configuration, Switch to previous configuration, and Reset configuration index. activeConfigIndex shows the configuration currently bound; a value of zero means binding is allowed to any valid configuration.
Extra Camera Behaviour
renderModel draws the player model while you are in first person. rerenderModel draws that model again at its original rendering time, which avoids certain visual problems caused by drawing it early. renderStuckObjects covers things like arrows and bee stings lodged in the player's body. dynamicCrosshair makes the crosshair follow your view so hit results stay consistent, and it is recommended when mods such as Jade or WTHIT are present.
Disable Conditions
The main feature can be turned off automatically in certain situations: while sneaking (disableWhenSneaking), while swimming (disableWhenSwimming), while crawling (disableWhenCrawling), while holding particular items (disableMainFeatureItems), or while rendering particular items (disableRenderItems). outTick sets how long the feature stays off after leaving a restricted state, measured in ticks, where one tick equals 0.05 seconds.
disableRenderItems accepts three matching styles: wildcard matching with `*`, such as `minecraft:*sword`; tag matching beginning with `#`, such as `#minecraft:swords`; and a direct item ID, such as `minecraft:diamond_sword`.
Binding Options
legacyBindingMode uses the older binding approach and supports only the vanilla model and actions built on it; its properties are set in the screen's legacy mode section when the option is on. bindResultRetentionFrames keeps using the last successful binding for a number of frames after a binding attempt fails. hideBindingFailureMessage suppresses the failure notice, which otherwise reports that binding failed and asks you to configure it manually on the screen.
Saving
After adding or updating a disable setting, press Save on the left to store the configuration.
