Viewing Recipes, Quick Craft, Favorites, and Collapsible Groups in Roughly Enough Items
Roughly Enough Items (REI) puts recipe viewing, item favoriting, quick crafting, and entry organization into one side panel that you operate with mouse clicks and configurable keys. This guide covers those core interactions and the display options that shape them.
Viewing Recipes
Hover over an entry and use the recipe view key to open its recipes. Inside a recipe screen, the arrows next to the tabs are clickable: selecting an arrow takes you to every recipe in the category that arrow points to. You can move between pages with Navigate to Previous Page and Navigate to Next Page, and return to earlier recipe screens with the back-navigation keybind. Larger Arrow Buttons and larger tab sizing make these controls easier to hit, and Recipe Screen Type Selection lets you pick how recipe screens are presented.
Two lookup styles are available under Recipe Lookup Style: Classic, the standard appearance, and Composite, which resembles the more detailed villager-style layout.
While hovering a recipe's info button (marked with "+" or "?"), the Copy Recipe Identifier keybind copies that recipe's ID. Hovering a recipe and pressing the export keybind saves it as an image; exports land in the `rei_exports` folder.
Quick Craft
Ctrl-Click on a recipe performs a quick craft. This pairs well with the Craftable Filter, which shows only the stacks you can currently make from what your inventory holds. Categories can be marked Available for Quick Craft or Excluded from Quick Craft in the quick craft category configuration. If a recipe can't be moved into a container, or materials are missing, REI reports it rather than completing the craft.
Favorites
Favorites live on the opposite side of the entry panel and persist across reloads, giving quick access to whatever you're currently working on. To add or remove an entry, press the favorites key (the on-screen hint states "A") or drag and drop entries. You can also drag upward to add an entry, and each entry shows a + button for adding it back. Append Favorites Hint controls whether the favoriting hint appears, and New Favorites Button Visibility controls whether the favorites button shows at the bottom of the panel.
Collapsible Groups
Collapsible Entries let you group entries and expand or collapse them, which helps organize the list and hide what you don't need. Expand or collapse everything at once with the corresponding modifier-click actions shown on screen. Custom groups can be created as well. Related settings cover list order, zoom, and collapsible groups.
Recipe Screen and Search Options
Double-clicking the search bar toggles two filters: Inventory Search, which limits results to items in your inventory, and a mode that grays out slots not matching the current filter. Dim Overlay Opacity adjusts how dark those non-matching slots appear, and a separate opacity setting controls the green highlight on matching slots.
Search filters can match by mod, tooltip contents, tags, or identifier, and Activate with Prefix plus colorful filter display make them easier to distinguish. Customized Filtering creates rules to show or hide specific entries, and displays whose entries are all filtered out are hidden entirely. Merge displays with the same recipe unifies duplicate recipes.
Other display controls include Cheat Mode (shift-click the config button to toggle it), Display Settings, Remove Recipe Book, Left Side Mob Effects, Scrolling Side Panel, Caching Entry Rendering, Syntax Highlighting, and Search Field Position. For any action without a stated key, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu.
