Remove Reloading Screen Mod Settings Explained

guide

Remove Reloading Screen is a Minecraft utility mod that changes how the game's reloading overlay behaves, and its options are controlled entirely through its settings interface and hotkeys rather than through crafting or in-game items. The guide below covers what each option does and how to reach it.

Opening the Settings

The mod's configuration is accessed through its interface. Once you are in the settings screen, every option listed below appears as a labelled entry, and most carry a short tooltip that explains the effect. Hover over an entry to read its tooltip before changing it. Any action that has a dedicated hotkey is bound in the controls menu — look for the action by name there and assign whatever key you prefer, since no default is fixed.

The Overlay Options

  • hideOverlays — selects which overlays are hidden. This determines the set of overlays the mod suppresses.
  • miniRender — draws a miniature, hidden version of the overlay instead of removing it entirely. Use this when you still want a small visual cue that a reload is happening.
  • enableScissor — trims the rendering of the default overlay. Its tooltip advises turning this on if the window is flooded with colour, mostly black.
  • blockOverlay — completely blocks any use of the overlay. Its tooltip warns: use at your own risk.
  • removeOverlayAtEnd — hides the overlay once the reload finishes. Its tooltip poses the question of infinite (re)loading, so check this if the overlay refuses to disappear.
  • skipForgeOverlay — swaps the (Neo)Forge loading overlay for the vanilla one.

Text and Animation

  • type — decides what is shown while reloading.
  • reloadText — the message displayed when TEXT is chosen as the type above. If you pick TEXT, type your preferred wording here.
  • animationSpeed — controls how fast the splash animation plays.

Reload Behaviour

  • resetResources — resets resources when a load fails.
  • doubleLoad — reloads the resources a second time if an error occurs.
  • reInitScreen — reinitialises the current screen after a reload. Its tooltip notes that turning this off may remove the hang-up that occurs once the reload is complete.
  • earlyPackStatusSend — sends status about the server resource pack early. The tooltip explains that some servers wait specifically for the player to finish loading resources, and because of that the game may display incorrectly — for example, you might appear underground while resources reload.
  • reInitScreen and earlyPackStatusSend are the two options most worth testing one at a time, since both affect timing rather than appearance.

A Note on the Hide Overlays Tooltip

The hideOverlays entry carries a tooltip reading "MAY CAUSE EPILEPSY". Treat that as a genuine caution: if you are sensitive to flashing or rapid visual changes, leave the overlay visible or use miniRender instead of hiding it outright.

Practical Order for Configuring

Work through the settings in this sequence to avoid confusion:

  • First choose type and, if you selected TEXT, fill in reloadText.
  • Then decide how much of the overlay you want gone using hideOverlays, miniRender, blockOverlay, and removeOverlayAtEnd.
  • Adjust animationSpeed to taste.
  • Finally, tune the reload behaviour entries — resetResources, doubleLoad, reInitScreen, earlyPackStatusSend, and skipForgeOverlay — changing one at a time so you can tell which one altered the result.

Every one of these is a toggle or a value inside the mod's own settings interface; none of them require any item or recipe. If a hotkey is associated with an action, set it yourself in the controls menu under that action's name.
