Controlling Overlay Visibility, Blocking, and Trimming in Remove Reloading Screen

guide

Remove Reloading Screen lets you decide which reload overlays stay visible, which get blocked outright, and how their rendering is trimmed. Everything is handled through the mod's interface and hotkeys rather than crafting, so you configure behavior directly instead of building items.

Hiding and Blocking Overlays

The hideOverlays setting holds the list of overlays the mod will suppress. Anything placed in this list is skipped from appearing during a reload.

If you want to go further than hiding, blockOverlay performs complete blocking of overlay usage. This is a stronger action than hiding a single overlay, and the mod labels it with a warning that you use it at your own risk.

At the opposite end, removeOverlayAtEnd hides the overlay once loading has finished. Its tooltip poses the question of infinite reloading, hinting that this option matters when overlays would otherwise linger or repeat.

Mini-Render and Scissor Options

miniRender draws a mini version of the overlay — effectively a hidden variant — instead of the full display. This keeps a small representation on screen while reducing what you see.

enableScissor trims the rendering of the default overlay. The mod advises turning this on when the window is flooded with color, usually mostly black. Trimming limits how much of that fill is drawn.

Both options give you finer control than a simple on/off hide: one shrinks the overlay to a miniature form, the other clips the drawn area of the default overlay.

Choosing What Displays While Reloading

The type setting determines what appears on screen during reloading. When you select TEXT as that type, the reloadText field supplies the words shown.

animationSpeed adjusts how fast the splash animation plays, letting you slow it down or speed it up.

Handling Reload Behavior and Errors

resetResources resets resources whenever a load fails.

doubleLoad triggers another resource reload if an error occurs, giving the process a second attempt.

reInitScreen reinitializes the current screen after a reload finishes. Its tooltip notes that turning this off may remove the hang-up that appears once reloading completes.

earlyPackStatusSend sends status about the server resourcepack earlier than usual. The tooltip explains that certain servers wait specifically for the player to finish loading resources, and because of that the game can display incorrectly — for example, showing you underground while resources were reloading.

skipForgeOverlay swaps the (Neo)Forge loading overlay for the vanilla one.

A Note on the Hidden-Overlay Warning

The hideOverlays feature carries a tooltip warning of MAY CAUSE EPILEPSY. Treat that as a genuine caution: rapidly changing or flashing visuals during reloads can be a problem for some users, so consider it before enabling heavy hiding.

Operating These Settings

Each of these is an action you perform through the mod's interface or its hotkeys. Where a control has a dedicated key, bind it in the controls menu using the corresponding hotkey — the mod does not assign one for you. To hide overlays, add them to hideOverlays. To block overlay use entirely, turn on blockOverlay. To shrink or clip rendering, use miniRender or enableScissor. To change what shows during a reload, set type and, for text, fill in reloadText. To manage reload failures and completion behavior, adjust resetResources, doubleLoad, reInitScreen, removeOverlayAtEnd, earlyPackStatusSend, and skipForgeOverlay as needed.

Work through the options one at a time and check the result after each reload, since several of these settings interact — trimming, mini-rendering, and blocking all change what ends up on screen.
