Tuning Reload Text, Animation Speed, and Screen Behavior in Remove Reloading Screen
Remove Reloading Screen is a utility mod that changes what you see and what the game does while resources are reloading. Its options cover the reload text, the splash animation speed, screen reinitialization, resource resets, and error handling. Everything is configured through the mod's interface and operated with hotkeys rather than crafted items.
Choosing What Appears During a Reload
The type setting decides what is shown while reloading. If you pick TEXT as that type, the reloadText field controls the exact words displayed on screen. This lets you replace the default visuals with a short message of your choosing.
Separately, miniRender renders a smaller, hidden version of the overlay instead of the full one. If the overlay is causing problems, enableScissor trims how the default overlay is drawn. The tooltip for enableScissor notes you should turn it on when the window is flooded with color, usually mostly black.
Hiding and Blocking Overlays
The hideOverlays setting lists which overlays get hidden. Use it to select the overlays you do not want to appear during a reload.
If you want to go further, blockOverlay completely blocks any use of the overlay. Its tooltip warns: use at your own risk.
Two related options control timing. removeOverlayAtEnd hides the overlay once loading finishes; its tooltip asks "Infinite (re)loading?" as a caution about what can happen if the overlay never clears. skipForgeOverlay swaps out the (Neo)Forge loading overlay and puts the vanilla one in its place.
Animation and Screen Behavior
animationSpeed sets how fast the splash animation plays. Adjust it to make the animation quicker or slower to suit your preference.
reInitScreen controls whether the current screen is reinitialized after a reload. Its tooltip explains that turning this feature off may remove the hang-up that can occur once the reload is complete. If you notice the game stalling after loading finishes, this is the setting to change.
Resource Resets and Error Handling
resetResources makes resources reset when a load fails. doubleLoad goes a step further: if an error occurs, it reloads the resources a second time. Together these two options determine how the mod recovers from a failed load.
Server Resource Pack Status
earlyPackStatusSend sends status about the server resource pack earlier than usual. The tooltip explains why this matters: some servers wait specifically for the player to finish loading resources, and because of that the game may display incorrectly. The example given is being underground while resources reload. Enabling this option addresses that mismatch.
Operating the Mod
All of these settings are changed through the mod's interface. Actions that can be bound to a key use the corresponding hotkey, which you set in the controls menu. No default key is assumed here, so assign your own bindings for any action you want to trigger quickly.
A Note of Caution
The hideOverlays option carries a tooltip warning that it may cause epilepsy. Treat overlay hiding and full overlay blocking with care, especially if flashing or rapidly changing visuals affect you. The blockOverlay tooltip repeats the warning to use it at your own risk.
Practical Pointers
- If the screen turns mostly black or floods with color, try enableScissor.
- If the game hangs after a reload completes, turn off reInitScreen.
- If loads keep failing, combine resetResources with doubleLoad.
- If the game looks wrong on servers that wait for resource loading, enable earlyPackStatusSend.
- If you want a custom message during reloads, set type to TEXT and fill in reloadText.
- If the overlay lingers, check removeOverlayAtEnd.
- If you use (Neo)Forge and prefer the vanilla overlay, enable skipForgeOverlay.
