How to Toggle Entity, Block, Sky, Weather, and Animation Rendering in Embeddium Extra
Embeddium Extra is a settings mod that brings a large collection of visual toggles to Embeddium, covering particles, animations, sky elements, and other rendering effects. Every option is turned on or off through the mod's own interface rather than through crafting or commands. The sections below group the available toggles by what they affect, so you can decide what to keep and what to switch off.
Where the Options Live
The mod's options are presented as a list of named toggles and sliders. Because the feature list has grown large, a message in the interface suggests using Reese's Embeddium Options alongside Embeddium Extra, since the settings no longer fit comfortably in Embeddium's video options screen. Open the relevant settings screen to reach them, then flip each toggle as needed.
Particles
The largest group of toggles controls particles. Each one enables or disables a specific particle type when switched on or off. Examples include Ambient Entity Effect, Campfire Cosy Smoke, Campfire Signal Smoke, Dust Color Transition, Trial Spawner Detection, and Trial Spawner Detection Ominous. Many other entries cover particles tied to specific events and blocks, such as dripping and falling variants for dripstone lava and water, obsidian tears, spore blossoms, and honey. Additional toggles govern particles from explosions, portals, sculk activity, redstone components, note blocks, conduits, lightning striking copper, and many mob and combat interactions. A general Particles toggle, when enabled, processes particles overall.
Animations
Several toggles decide whether particular animations are processed. These include separate switches for Fire, Lava, Portal,
Sculk Sensor, Water, and Block animations, plus a general Animations toggle. There is also a toggle for
Piston extending animations and one for
Item Frames. The Enchanting Table Book toggle controls whether enchanting table books are rendered.
Sky and Weather
Sky rendering has its own set of switches. Sky enables or disables rendering of the sky itself, while Stars, Sun and Moon, and Sky Colors control those individual elements, with sky colors changing based on the biome when enabled. Biome Colors handles biome-based color changes generally. For weather, Rain & Snow controls whether precipitation is drawn, and Rain Splash Particles controls the splash particles that appear with it. Cloud rendering is adjusted with sliders for cloud distance from the player and cloud height.
Entities and Blocks
Entity-related toggles include
Armor Stands,
Item Frames,
Paintings, Beacon Beams, Player Name Tags, and Item Frame Name Tag. Limit Beacon Beam Height restricts beacon beams to the world's maximum height when enabled. Block-related rendering is covered by toggles such as Block Breaking Particles and Block Break Particles, which process those effects when enabled. Light Updates processes lighting updates; disabling it can affect lighting when new chunks generate, so only turn it off if you understand the consequences.
Fog, Shaders, and Other Visual Controls
Fog behavior is governed by several settings. Fog Start Multiplier adjusts when terrain fog begins to render, and the fog distance sliders set terrain fog distance per dimension or for all dimensions, with values from 0 (vanilla fog) through 32 chunks up to 33, which effectively disables fog. Multi Dimension Fog switches between per-dimension and single fog control, and changing it requires leaving and reentering the menu before the fog sliders update. A separate option sets how fog is modified, with a default mode and a mod-compatible mode that may cause fog settings to be ignored. Vanilla Shaders prevents any vanilla shader from loading when enabled. Use Linear Flat Color Blender applies linear color biome blending without blending block faces. Camera Lerp on Sneak stops the camera from lerping while sneaking when enabled. Fast Random uses a faster random function for block rendering, which can change how randomly rotated textures appear compared to vanilla. Reduce Resolution on macOS uses half resolution on retina displays and requires a game restart to change.
Interface and Overlay Options
Some toggles affect on-screen information rather than world rendering. Advanced Item Tooltips shows an item's identifier and durability in tooltips. FPS and Coordinates display those values on the overlay, with FPS Extended adding maximum, average, and minimum figures. The overlay's corner position is adjustable, and its contrast can be set to none, background, or shadow. Steady Debug Hud Refresh refreshes the debug hud at a set tick interval, adjustable with Steady Debug Hud Refresh Interval. Popup toggles cover Advancement Toasts, Recipe Popups, System Popups, Tutorial Popups, and a combined advancement and crafting recipe popup option. Fullscreen Resolution sets the game's resolution in fullscreen mode, and V-Sync allows mid-frame swapping that can improve responsiveness but may cause issues with some GPU drivers.
Operating the Toggles
Each entry is a simple switch or slider: enable it to process or render that effect, disable it to skip it. No hotkey is required for these options; if a particular feature is bound to a key, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu. Work through the categories above, turning off what you do not need and leaving on what you want to see.
