Runes: Twenty Recipes and a Loader Change
Runes is a small magic mod built on craftable rune items. This guide covers what it holds and an unusual difference between its two builds.
Ten pages, twenty recipes
The mod registers 9 items and 1 block across 10 pages, with 20 crafting recipes on 1.21.1 and 17 on 1.20.1.
Having twice as many recipes as items is the interesting part. It means several runes have more than one way to be made, which is unusual in a mod this size and suggests the recipes are the content rather than the items being it.
The loader changes between versions
This is the detail to check before planning around it. The 1.21.1 build is 1.3.2 on NeoForge, and the 1.20.1 build is 0.9.13 on Fabric.
Most mods on this wiki keep the same loader family across versions. This one does not, which means a pack cannot move it between Minecraft lines without also changing platform. If you are running Forge on 1.20.1, this mod is not available to you at all.
Three more recipes on the newer build
Twenty against seventeen is a modest gap, but in a mod with only nine items it is proportionally large — roughly a sixth of the recipe list exists only on 1.21.1.
No machine, no structure
There is no bespoke bench and no worldgen structure. Everything is made at an ordinary crafting table and nothing is gated behind exploration, so the entire mod is available as soon as you have the materials.
One block
A single block in a mod of ten pages tells you almost nothing here is placed. Runes are carried and used, which fits the premise.
Where to start
Read the crafting list in full — at twenty recipes it takes a minute, and with multiple routes to some runes the cheapest path depends on what you already have. That is the only real decision the mod asks you to make.
What to expect
This is a small, self-contained mod with no dependencies and no progression. It layers a handful of magical effects onto a normal game rather than asking you to build toward anything, which makes it easy to add to a pack in progress and easy to ignore until you want it.
