Street Lights and Poles: A Crafting Guide
Street lights in Saro's Road Blocks come down to two recipes, and the one people get wrong is the pole: it takes an
Iron Ingot, not more concrete. Get both recipes straight and you can line a road with lighting without wasting stacks of
Light Gray Concrete.
The two recipes
Both are shaped recipes, and both lean on
Light Gray Concrete as the main body material.
Street Light
The
Street Light recipe pairs
Glowstone with
Light Gray Concrete x2. That is the light itself — the glowing head you place over a road.
Street Light Pole
The
Street Light Pole recipe uses
Light Gray Concrete x2 plus
Iron Ingot. The
Iron Ingot is the structural part, which is why the pole recipe differs from the lamp recipe even though both start with the same concrete.
What each piece is for
The
Street Light is the part that actually glows.
Glowstone is the ingredient that carries the light, so if you are short on
Glowstone, that is the bottleneck in your street lighting project, not the concrete.
The
Street Light Pole is the support. It holds a
Street Light up at height so the light sits above the road rather than at ground level. The
Iron Ingot in its recipe reflects that job — a pole has to hold weight.
Planning materials before you craft
Because both recipes share
Light Gray Concrete, it pays to work out how many lights and poles you need before you start crafting, then gather concrete for the total.
- Each
Street Light costs
Glowstone plus
Light Gray Concrete x2. - Each
Street Light Pole costs
Light Gray Concrete x2 plus
Iron Ingot.
So a matched set — one
Street Light and one
Street Light Pole — needs
Glowstone,
Iron Ingot, and
Light Gray Concrete x4 in total.
If you are lighting a long stretch of road, the
Light Gray Concrete is the ingredient you will burn through fastest, since every single piece of the setup uses two of it.
Glowstone and
Iron Ingot are used one apiece per light and per pole respectively, so they scale with the number of lights you place rather than with the concrete.
A note on the concrete colour
Both recipes call for
Light Gray Concrete specifically. That is the colour the mod's street furniture is built around, and it is what the recipes accept. Do not substitute another concrete colour and expect the same result — the recipes as stated use
Light Gray Concrete x2 in each case.
Crafting order
There is no dependency between the two recipes — you can craft
Street Light and
Street Light Pole in either order, or both at once if you have the ingredients laid out. Neither recipe requires the other as an ingredient.
What matters is that you have both before you start placing. A
Street Light Pole on its own is just a post; a
Street Light on its own has nothing to sit on. Craft them as a pair.
Common mistakes
The most frequent error is assuming the
Street Light Pole is made from concrete alone, the way the
Street Light mostly is. It is not — the
Iron Ingot is required, and skipping it means no pole.
The second is mixing up which recipe takes
Glowstone. Only the
Street Light uses
Glowstone. The
Street Light Pole does not, so do not set
Glowstone aside for poles.
The third is under-buying
Light Gray Concrete. With two required per
Street Light and two more per
Street Light Pole, a road lined with both pieces eats concrete at four per pair.

Keep those two lines straight and street lighting in Saro's Road Blocks is a two-recipe job: concrete for the body of both pieces,
Glowstone for the glow, and a single
Iron Ingot to hold each light up.
