Configuring Per-Player Armor Transparency in Show Me Your Skin!
Show Me Your Skin! lets you control how armor renders on players, including per-player transparency. You can manage this through a server-side armor config and a set of local override options that only affect what you see. This guide covers the available settings and how to operate them.
Opening the Configuration
The mod's main entry is showmeyourskin, which provides the armor rendering customisation interface. From here you can reach two separate configuration areas:
- serverIntegrated — Armor Config (Server)
- serverOverrides — Armor Config (Local Overrides)
The server config applies the armor transparency rules set for the server, while the local overrides section lets you adjust transparency on your own client. Use the openButtonTooltip action — Open armor transparency override — to open the override editor for a player.
Global Toggle
There is a global toggle for the mod. Press the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to toggle it ingame. When the mod is enabled, armor rendering customisation is active; when disabled, armor rendering customisation is turned off.
Local Overrides
Local overrides let you change armor transparency for individual players without affecting anyone else.
- overridesEnabled — Enable local overrides. These changes are not visible to other players.
- overridesConfigure — Configure local overrides. These changes are also not visible to other players.
To remove an override you no longer want, use the deleteButtonTooltip action — Delete transparency override.
Additional Rendering Options
Several toggles refine how armor and related visuals behave:
- glintTooltip — Enable enchantment glint
- combatTooltip — Automatically disable transparency in combat
- nameTagTooltip — Show player name tag
- forceElytraWhenFlyingTooltip — Disable Elytra transparency while flying
- shieldGlintTooltip — Show enchantment glint on shield
Each of these is a simple on/off setting. Turn one on to apply its behaviour, or off to stop it.
How the Two Configs Work Together
The server armor config and the local overrides serve different purposes. The server config reflects transparency rules that come from the server side, while local overrides are your personal adjustments. Because local overrides are not visible to other players, they change only your own view of armor transparency. If you want the server's settings to apply as-is, leave local overrides disabled. If you want to fine-tune specific players, enable local overrides and configure them individually.
Quick Reference
- Toggle the mod globally with its hotkey (set it in the controls menu).
- Open serverIntegrated for the server armor config.
- Open serverOverrides for local override options.
- Use overridesEnabled to turn local overrides on or off.
- Use overridesConfigure to adjust them.
- Use openButtonTooltip to open a player's override.
- Use deleteButtonTooltip to remove an override.
- Adjust glintTooltip, combatTooltip, nameTagTooltip, forceElytraWhenFlyingTooltip, and shieldGlintTooltip as needed.
With these controls, you can set armor transparency per player on your own client while still respecting the server's armor config.
