Show Me Your Skin! Usage Guide: Toggle Armor Rendering Customization In-Game

guide

Show Me Your Skin! is a Minecraft utility mod that lets you customize armor rendering, and this guide covers opening its interface and using the global toggle.

Opening the Mod Interface

The mod's interface is where you configure armor rendering options. Open it through the mod's own interface entry point, then work with the settings it presents. The interface is built around a small set of labeled controls, each tied to a specific rendering behavior.

The Global Toggle

The central control is the global toggle. Press the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to toggle the mod ingame. This single switch flips armor rendering customization between two states:

  • Enabled armor rendering customisation — customization is active.
  • Disabled armor rendering customisation — customization is off.

Because it is a toggle, the same action switches between the two states. Assign the hotkey in your controls menu before relying on it, since the mod does not dictate which key you use.

Armor Config Sections

Two sections organize the mod's configuration:

  • Armor Config (Server) — labeled serverIntegrated. This reflects the server-side armor configuration.
  • Armor Config (Local Overrides) — labeled serverOverrides. This holds your own local adjustments.

Local Overrides

Local overrides let you change armor rendering for yourself only. They are not visible to other players. Two controls manage them:

  • Enable local overrides — labeled overridesEnabled. Turns your personal overrides on or off.
  • Configure local overrides — labeled overridesConfigure. Opens the place where you set those overrides.

Use these when you want a personal look that does not affect anyone else's view.

Transparency Override Buttons

Two buttons handle individual transparency overrides:

  • Open armor transparency override — labeled openButtonTooltip. Opens an override for editing.
  • Delete transparency override — labeled deleteButtonTooltip. Removes an override you no longer want.

Additional Rendering Options

Several settings fine-tune how armor and related items render:

  • Enable enchantment glint — labeled glintTooltip. Controls whether the enchantment glint appears.
  • Automatically disable transparency in combat — labeled combatTooltip. Drops transparency automatically when you enter combat.
  • Show player name tag — labeled nameTagTooltip. Controls name tag visibility.
  • Disable Elytra transparency while flying — labeled forceElytraWhenFlyingTooltip. Keeps Elytra opaque during flight.
  • Show enchantment glint on shield — labeled shieldGlintTooltip. Controls the glint on shields specifically.

Suggested Workflow

  1. Set the global toggle hotkey in the controls menu.
  2. Use the toggle ingame to switch armor rendering customization on or off.
  3. Open the interface to adjust Armor Config (Server) or Armor Config (Local Overrides).
  4. If you want personal changes, enable local overrides and configure them.
  5. Add or remove individual transparency overrides with the open and delete buttons.
  6. Tune the remaining options, such as enchantment glint, combat transparency, name tags, Elytra behavior while flying, and shield glint.

Notes on Behavior

The global toggle governs whether customization applies at all; the sections and options refine what happens when it is on. Local overrides stay private to you. Combat transparency and Elytra transparency settings change automatically based on the situations named in their labels, so you do not manage them moment to moment. If a setting seems to have no effect, confirm the global toggle is set to enabled and that local overrides are switched on when you expect them to apply.
