How to Use Show Me Your Skin! for Client-Side Armor Transparency

guide

Show Me Your Skin! lets you change how armor renders on your screen only, so other players never see your adjustments. This guide covers enabling the feature, configuring local overrides, opening an override, and deleting one.

Turning the Feature On and Off

Armor rendering customisation has two states: Enabled armor rendering customisation and Disabled armor rendering customisation. Use the global toggle to switch between them. A hotkey performs this toggle while you are in-game. If you have not assigned that hotkey yet, set it in the controls menu.

Server and Local Overrides

Two entries organise how armor transparency is handled:

  • Armor Config (Server) — the server-side armor configuration.
  • Armor Config (Local Overrides) — your own local override settings.

The local override side is where your personal changes live. Anything you do there is not visible to other players.

Enabling Local Overrides

Inside Armor Config (Local Overrides) you will find Enable local overrides. Turn this on to activate your own transparency settings. As noted on the option itself, these changes are not visible to other players.

Configuring Local Overrides

Next to enabling, there is Configure local overrides. This is where you adjust the transparency behaviour for your local overrides. Like the enable option, it is marked as not visible to other players, so your configuration stays private to your client.

Opening and Deleting an Override

Two actions manage individual overrides:

  • Open armor transparency override — opens the override so you can work with it.
  • Delete transparency override — removes the override.

Use Open armor transparency override when you want to view or adjust a specific override, and Delete transparency override when you want it gone.

Additional Settings

Several options refine how armor and related visuals behave:

  • Enable enchantment glint — controls whether the enchantment glint appears.
  • Automatically disable transparency in combat — turns transparency off on its own during combat.
  • Show player name tag — controls whether the player name tag is displayed.
  • Disable Elytra transparency while flying — keeps the Elytra from becoming transparent when you fly.
  • Show enchantment glint on shield — controls the glint display on shields.

Quick Reference

  • Toggle armor rendering customisation globally with the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu).
  • Open Armor Config (Local Overrides) to reach your private settings.
  • Switch on Enable local overrides to apply them.
  • Use Configure local overrides to adjust them.
  • Use Open armor transparency override to open one, and Delete transparency override to remove one.
  • Remember that local overrides are not visible to other players.
