Show Me Your Skin! Usage Guide: Glint, Transparency, Name Tags, and Shields

guide

Show Me Your Skin! is an armor rendering customization mod operated entirely through its interface and hotkeys. It lets you control how armor, enchantment glint, name tags, Elytra, and shields appear, both globally and per-server.

Toggling the Mod

The mod has a global on/off switch. Press the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to toggle it while in game. When the mod is active, your armor rendering customizations apply. When it is off, armor rendering customization is inactive.

Server Config and Local Overrides

Settings are organized into two areas:

  • Armor Config (Server) — the configuration tied to the current server.
  • Armor Config (Local Overrides) — your personal adjustments layered on top.

Local overrides are private: other players never see them. Two actions control this area:

  • Enable local overrides — turns your personal overrides on or off. These changes are not visible to other players.
  • Configure local overrides — opens the place where you set those personal overrides. Again, nothing here is visible to other players.

Transparency Overrides

Two buttons manage individual transparency overrides:

  • Open armor transparency override — opens an override so you can adjust it.
  • Delete transparency override — removes an override you no longer want.

Enchantment Glint

The Enable enchantment glint option controls whether the enchantment glint effect is drawn. Turn it on to keep the shimmering glint visible, or off to suppress it.

Combat Transparency

The Automatically disable transparency in combat option handles transparency during fights. When enabled, transparency turns off automatically while you are in combat, so armor displays normally at the moment it matters most.

Name Tags

The Show player name tag option controls whether player name tags appear. Enable it to display name tags; disable it to hide them.

Elytra While Flying

The Disable Elytra transparency while flying option affects how your Elytra looks in flight. When enabled, Elytra transparency is turned off while you are flying, so the Elytra renders without that transparency.

Shield Glint

The Show enchantment glint on shield option controls the glint on your shield. Enable it to display the enchantment glint on the shield; disable it to hide the glint there.

Quick Reference

  • Global toggle: the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu).
  • Enable local overrides — private to you, invisible to other players.
  • Configure local overrides — private to you, invisible to other players.
  • Open armor transparency override / Delete transparency override — manage individual overrides.
  • Enable enchantment glint — show or hide the glint effect.
  • Automatically disable transparency in combat — transparency off during combat.
  • Show player name tag — show or hide name tags.
  • Disable Elytra transparency while flying — Elytra renders without transparency in flight.

Every option above is reached through the mod's interface; there is no crafting involved. If a control needs a key, assign it yourself in the controls menu rather than assuming a default.
