Cooking Machines and All the Fish, Clam, and Dodo Recipes

Cooking machines in this mod cover four separate stations, and each one handles a different set of recipes. The Campfire Cooking, Cooking, Smelting, and Smoking stations overlap heavily on seafood and dodo dishes, while only Smelting and Cooking reach beyond that shared list. Knowing which station accepts which recipe saves you from building the wrong machine for the job.

Campfire Cooking

The Campfire Cooking station has 9 recipes. Its full list covers fish, clams, dodo, and seeds:

The Smelting station has 11 recipes. It shares the same nine conversions as the two stations above, then adds two that have nothing to do with food:

Cooking

The Cooking station is the smallest of the four, with only 2 recipes, and both produce multi-ingredient dishes rather than simple cooked items:

Cooked Clam plus Potato plus milk_bottle makes Clam Chowder
Bucket of Coastal Crab plus Potato x2 plus bacon plus onion makes Crab Boil

Clam Chowder Beyond the Cooking Station

Clam Chowder is not limited to the Cooking station. It can also be made through two shapeless crafting recipes:

Bowl plus Cooked Clam plus Potato plus Carrot makes Clam Chowder
Bowl plus Cooked Clam plus Potato x2 plus milk_bottle makes Clam Chowder

Note that the crafting versions require a Bowl, while the Cooking station version does not list one. The two crafting recipes also differ from each other: one uses a single Potato and a Carrot, the other uses two Potato and a milk_bottle.

Choosing a Station

If your goal is simply turning raw fish, clams, dodo, or Sunflower Seeds into their cooked forms, any of Campfire Cooking, Smelting, or Smoking will do the job, since all three share the same nine conversions. Pick Smelting if you also want to process Mucus into Slimeball or Blasted Sandstone into Smooth Blasted Sandstone. Reach for the Cooking station only when you want Clam Chowder or Crab Boil, and remember that Clam Chowder additionally has two shapeless crafting routes that skip the station entirely.
