Date and Rotten Wood Sets Plus Reefstone and Sandstone Building Blocks
Date and Rotten wood sets plus Reefstone and sandstone building blocks give builders several distinct material families to work with. Each family has its own conversion recipes, and most follow a simple pattern: break a raw material down into planks, or pack four units of a material into a compact block.
Date Planks
Date Planks come from 
Date Log. The conversion is a shapeless recipe, so the ingredients can sit anywhere in the crafting grid. One Date Log yields Date Planks. Because the recipe is shapeless, there is no fixed arrangement to memorize.
Rotten Planks
Rotten Planks follow the same structure as the Date set. A shapeless recipe turns one 
Rotten Log into Rotten Planks. As with Date Planks, placement in the grid does not matter.
Reefstone Tiles
Reefstone Tiles can be produced two different ways.
- Crafting: a shaped recipe combines four
Reefstone into Reefstone Tiles. - Stonecutting: a single Reefstone can be cut into Reefstone Tiles.
The stonecutting route is useful when you want to stretch a small amount of Reefstone across more tiles, while the shaped crafting route consumes four Reefstone at once.
Blasted Sandstone
Blasted Sandstone is made with a shaped recipe that combines four 
Blasted Sand. The result is one Blasted Sandstone. This mirrors the common four-into-one pattern used by many compact building blocks.
Algal Reefstone
Algal Reefstone uses a shapeless recipe. Combine Reefstone with a 
Red Algae Block and the output is Algal Reefstone. Since the recipe is shapeless, the two ingredients can be placed in any order or position within the crafting grid.
Snail Shell Tiles
Snail Shell Tiles are crafted with a shaped recipe that takes four 
Snail Shell and returns Snail Shell Tiles. This gives snail shells a dedicated building block form rather than leaving them as loose materials.
Working With These Sets
The recipes above fall into a few clear categories, which makes them easy to remember as a group.
- Log to plank conversions: Date Log to Date Planks, and Rotten Log to Rotten Planks. Both are shapeless.
- Four-into-one block recipes: four Reefstone to Reefstone Tiles, four Blasted Sand to Blasted Sandstone, and four Snail Shell to Snail Shell Tiles. All three are shaped.
- Combination recipes: Reefstone plus Red Algae Block to Algal Reefstone. This one is shapeless.
- Stonecutting: Reefstone to Reefstone Tiles.
If you are gathering materials for a build, note that Reefstone feeds into two separate recipes. It can become Reefstone Tiles through either crafting or stonecutting, and it can also be combined with Red Algae Block to make Algal Reefstone. Plan how much Reefstone you need for each purpose before you start crafting, since the two recipes compete for the same base material.
For the wood sets, the shapeless nature of both recipes means you can process logs quickly without worrying about grid layout. For the tile and block recipes, remember that the shaped versions all consume four of the base item. The Blasted Sandstone recipe is the only one in this group that does not have a stonecutting alternative listed, so four Blasted Sand is the route to that block.
