Species: Four Structures and a Short Recipe List
Species adds creatures and the places they inhabit. This guide covers what generates and why the crafting list is so short.
Almost nothing is crafted
79 pages across 53 items and 26 blocks, with just 28 crafting recipes and a single smelting one.
Twenty-nine recipes against 53 items means roughly half of what the mod adds has no recipe at all — those items are drops. As with most creature mods, progression here is about finding and defeating things rather than assembling them.
Four structures, and they are very unevenly spread
- Spectralibur Chamber — spacing 80, separation 15
- Libra — spacing 64, separation 16
- Wraptor Coop — spacing 32, separation 8
- Paleontology Dig Site — spacing 10, separation 5
The range is eight-fold. The Dig Site at a spacing of 10 is something you meet constantly; the Spectralibur Chamber at 80 is a deliberate expedition.
Read the separations too
Both rare structures pair a wide spacing with a low separation — 80 and 15, 64 and 16. That combination means they are rare overall but can generate relatively close together. Finding one Libra is weak evidence that another is nearby, but not none.
The Wraptor Coop at 32 and 8 follows the same shape at a denser scale.
Where to start
The Paleontology Dig Site at spacing 10 is the natural entry point — common enough that you will trip over one early, and its name suggests it is the mod's introduction to what it adds.
Work outward from there to the Wraptor Coop at 32, then the Libra at 64, then the Spectralibur Chamber at 80.
Blocks are secondary
26 blocks against 53 items. The block list is small and exists to support the creatures and their structures rather than to give you a building palette. There are no stonecutting recipes at all, so there is no variant family to work with.
This line is 1.20.1 only
The build is 3.5 on Forge. There is no 1.21.1 release, so a pack on the newer line cannot include it.
What to expect
A short recipe list, four places to go, and most of the content behind creatures rather than behind a bench.
