Crafting Basics

The crafting system in Spectrum covers a wide range of recipes, from resource recycling to building blocks. For example, you can convert Ash Flakes into Ash (four flakes make one ash), or reverse the process by turning one Ash back into four Ash Flakes. Three Ash can also be combined into six Ash Pile. Decorative banner patterns are available by pairing Paper with either an Amethyst Cluster or an Amethyst Shard.

Most of the crafting recipes focus on stone and rock variants, particularly around Basal Marble and Basalt. These recipes follow the standard Minecraft pattern of converting full blocks into slabs, stairs, and walls. From Basal Marble, you can make slabs (three blocks yield six), stairs (six blocks yield six), or walls (six blocks yield six). Polishing Basal Marble produces Polished Basal Marble; four of these make four Basal Marble Bricks. From those bricks, you can craft slabs, stairs, or walls in the same quantities. Four Basal Marble Bricks also convert into four Basal Marble Tiles, which themselves have slab, stair, and wall variants. Two Polished Basal Marble make two Basal Marble Pillar.

The Basalt line works similarly. Polished Basalt Bricks can be made into slabs, stairs, or walls, and four of them convert into four Basalt Tiles. Those tiles also have slab, stair, and wall versions.

Smelting Basics

Smelting covers 32 recipes, primarily for ore processing and stone polishing. Ores smelted in a furnace yield their corresponding materials: Amethyst Ore gives Amethyst Shard, Citrine Ore gives Citrine Shard, Moonstone Ore gives Moonstone Shard, Onyx Ore gives Onyx Shard, and Paltaeria Ore gives Paltaeria Fragments. Blackslag variants of common ores also smelt normally: Blackslag Coal Ore gives Coal, Blackslag Iron Ore gives Iron Ingot, Blackslag Gold Ore gives Gold Ingot, Blackslag Diamond Ore gives Diamond, Blackslag Emerald Ore gives Emerald, and Blackslag Lapis Ore gives Lapis Lazuli. Cobbled Blackslag smelts into Blackslag.

Food and miscellaneous items are also included. Lizard Meat cooks into Cooked Lizard Meat, and a Glistering Melon Slice smelts into a Gold Nugget.

Smelting also handles stone transformation. Basal Marble smelts into Polished Basal Marble, and interestingly, Basal Marble Brick Stairs also smelt into Polished Basal Marble. Smooth Basalt and Basalt Brick Stairs both smelt into Polished Basalt. Blackslag and Blackslag Brick Stairs smelt into Polished Blackslag. Calcite and Calcite Brick Stairs smelt into Polished Calcite. Shale Clay and Shale Clay Brick Stairs smelt into Polished Shale Clay.

Blasting Basics

Blasting offers a faster alternative for many of the same ore recipes, with 48 total recipes. Ores like Amethyst Ore, Citrine Ore, and Blackslag Coal Ore behave the same as in smelting. Blasting also handles purified materials: Pure Coal blasts into Coal, Pure Copper blasts into Copper Ingot, Pure Diamond blasts into Diamond, and Pure Echo blasts into Echo Shard. Cobbled Blackslag blasts into Blackslag as well.

Simple Processing Notes

For stone blocks, smelting is the primary method for polishing raw materials. The stair-to-polished-block recipes are unusual but useful for recycling unwanted decorative pieces. When working with ores, choose between standard smelting for normal speed or blasting for quicker results, keeping in mind that both methods produce the same output for the listed items.
