Positioning Status Effect Bars with Align to Bottom/Right, Padding, and Axis Offsets
The Status Effect Bars Config screen controls where status effect bars appear and how they are spaced. This guide covers the positioning options: Align to Bottom/Right, padding, and the two axis offsets.
Align to Bottom/Right
Align to Bottom/Right changes which edge of the screen the bars are anchored to. When enabled, the bars align to the bottom edge instead of the top. Which edge that actually is depends on the Direction setting: with a horizontal layout the bars move to the bottom, and with a vertical layout they move to the right instead of the left. In short, turning this on flips the bars from the top (or left) edge to the opposite edge.
If you want the bars to sit along the bottom of the screen, enable Align to Bottom/Right while using the horizontal direction. If you want them along the right side, enable it while using the vertical direction.
Padding
The padding option adds space on both sides of the bar. It applies symmetrically, so the same amount is added to each side rather than just one. Use it to keep bars from touching the screen edge or from crowding whatever sits next to them. Increasing the value pushes the bars further in from both sides; decreasing it lets them sit closer.
Axis Offsets
Two separate offset settings fine-tune the bar's position once alignment and padding are set.
- The first offset moves the bar along its main axis. For a horizontal bar this shifts it left or right; for a vertical bar it shifts it up or down. Use it to slide the whole stack of bars along the direction they run.
- The second offset moves the bar perpendicular to its main axis. For a horizontal bar this shifts it up or down; for a vertical bar it shifts it left or right. Use it to nudge the bars away from the edge they are anchored to, or closer to it.
Together, these two offsets let you place the bars precisely without changing the alignment mode. Adjust the main-axis offset to reposition along the bar's length, and the perpendicular offset to change its distance from the anchored edge.
Other Settings on the Same Screen
The config screen also holds options that affect what the bars show, which are worth knowing since they share the same interface.
Maximum Remaining Duration sets a remaining duration in ticks. Any bar whose remaining duration is above that value is hidden.
Minimum Beacon Effect Age sets an age in ticks for beacon effects. Bars for beacon effects younger than that value are hidden.
The color method setting determines how bar colors are chosen. The available methods are Effect, which uses the effect's particle color; Category, which uses the effect category's color; and Custom, which uses colors you set in the fields below. The custom color fields only apply when the custom method is selected. One of those fields is Benificial Bar Color, the color used for beneficial bars in custom mode.
Operating the Screen
Open the config screen to change any of these values. Adjust Align to Bottom/Right, the padding value, and the two offsets directly in the interface. There is no crafting step and no item to hold; everything is set through the screen and its controls. If a control has a hotkey, set it in the controls menu rather than assuming a default.
Changes to alignment, padding, and offsets take effect on where the bars are drawn, so you can adjust them and watch the bars move to confirm the placement you want.
