How to Install Status Effect Bars and Open Its Config Screen
Status Effect Bars is a Minecraft utility mod that displays your active status effects as bars on screen, and all of its behavior is controlled through a config screen rather than through crafting or in-game items. Once the mod is in place, you open that screen to adjust how the bars look and when they appear.
Opening the Config Screen
The mod's configuration interface is titled Status Effect Bars Config. Open it through the mod's config screen entry, which is reached from the mod list or the standard config menu for your mod loader. No crafting recipe or in-game item is involved — everything is handled from this screen.
Color Settings
The config screen includes a setting that controls the Method of determining colors. It offers four choices:
- Effect — uses the effect's own particle color.
- Category — uses the color assigned to the effect's category.
- Custom — uses colors you set yourself in the fields below the option.
- A fourth mode is described as the method of determining colors generally, with the three named options above covering the specific selections.
When Custom is selected, a section labeled Custom-mode-only colors becomes relevant, and the Benificial Bar Color field lets you pick the color used for beneficial effect bars. The color fields only apply in custom mode.
Duration and Visibility Settings
Two numeric settings control when bars are hidden based on timing:
- Maximum Remaining Duration — measured in ticks. Any effect whose remaining duration in ticks is above this value has its bar hidden.
- Minimum Beacon Effect Age — also measured in ticks. Beacon effects whose age in ticks is under this value have their bars hidden.
Both values are entered as tick counts, so you tune them to decide how early or late a bar shows up.
Position and Layout Settings
Several options control where the bars sit and how they are spaced:
- Align to Bottom/Right — when enabled, bars align to the bottom edge, or to the right edge depending on the Direction setting, instead of the top or left.
- Padding — controls the padding on both sides of the bar.
- Offset along the bar's main axis — shifts the bar along its length.
- Offset perpendicular to the bar — shifts the bar sideways, away from its main axis.
Using the Bars In-Game
After you finish configuring, the bars appear on screen while effects are active, following the color mode, visibility thresholds, alignment, padding, and offsets you selected. Effects that fall outside your duration or beacon-age limits stay hidden, and bars that qualify are drawn in the position and color your settings specify.
Hotkeys
Any action in this mod that is bound to a key uses the corresponding hotkey, which you set in the controls menu. No default key is assigned by the mod itself, so check your controls menu to see or change the binding before relying on it.
