Terramity Ores, Gems, and Advanced Crafting Materials Guide
Terramity adds a wide range of ores, gems, and advanced crafting materials that gate most of its endgame content. This guide covers where to find each new resource and how to use them for powerful tools, armor, and other items.
New Gems and Their Locations
Several new gems appear across different dimensions and biomes. Each one is tied to a specific environment, so you will need to explore widely to collect them all.
- Rubies generate almost anywhere in the Nether, making them a common early find once you enter that dimension.
Sapphires appear in snowy biomes. Look for them in cold, frozen landscapes.
Topaz is found in hot, arid biomes, such as deserts or badlands.
Onyx spawns in the End, requiring you to defeat the Ender Dragon and explore the outer islands.
Iridescent shards are found deep underground anywhere in the Overworld. Dig down to lower depths to locate them.
These five gems are the building blocks for many new craftable items. Combining them in various recipes unlocks equipment and tools that are otherwise unavailable.
Void Alloy
Void Alloy is a new metal tied to the power of the void. To craft it, you need three ingredients: iridium,
black matter, and
empty essence. Black matter is the limiting factor here—it only becomes available after you defeat the Trial Guardian. That boss also drops a smithing template, which you must apply to iridium to upgrade it into Void Alloy. Once you have the ingots, you can forge them into armor and tools that channel void energy.
Reverium
Reverium is another new metal, and it draws on the power of the heavens. Its recipe requires profanum,
antiprism, and
angel feathers. Like Void Alloy, Reverium is locked behind boss progression—you must defeat the Shadow Wizards before you can obtain it. Unlike Void Alloy, Reverium has no smithing template. Instead, you craft the full toolset and armor set directly from the ingots themselves, with no upgrade step in between.
Black Matter
Black matter is a critical resource for crafting the strongest metals in Terramity. You cannot obtain it until you have defeated the Trial Guardian and acquired a
perish staff, which that boss drops. The staff is essential for progression.
There are two types of black matter ore to know about:
Bedrock black matter ore appears on the surface of the Nether. It is initially unbreakable.
Decayed black matter ore is the mineable form.
To convert the bedrock ore, use the perish staff on it. This decays the ore, turning it into the mineable version. After that, you can harvest it normally and collect black matter.
Empty Essence
Empty essence is a required ingredient for Void Alloy and several other important recipes. To get it, you must throw black matter into stygian blood. This liquid is found inside certain Terramity structures, most notably the Trial Spire. So your path to empty essence runs through the same boss-related progression as black matter itself.
Souls
Souls are another crafting category used for powerful items. There are four distinct types, each with its own source.
Spiteful souls drop when you slay villagers. They also drop from Hellroks, which gives you a less morally questionable alternative.
Lost souls come from three sources: they are found inside mausoleums, dropped by Duskroks, and dropped by the mobs that inhabit a Trial Spire.
Accursed souls are obtained by breaking any mob spawner. This works on all kinds of spawners, so keep that in mind when clearing dungeons or other structures.
Warden souls are simple to describe but hard to earn—you must defeat a warden. There is no shortcut here.
Collecting these souls lets you craft some of the most powerful items in the mod, so it is worth seeking out each type as you progress through the game.
