Terramity New Player Guide: Getting Started and Early Progression
Welcome to the Terramity new player guide for progression and basic resources. Terramity is a mod that adds a great deal of content inspired by games like Terraria, with a strong focus on extending your journey through new bosses, ores, weapons, and equipment. The single most important addition is the accessory system, which works with Curios and can often matter more than the armor you wear.
First Steps
Your very first goal is to craft a
cardboard necklace. This simple accessory is the starting point for everything else. As you play, always keep an eye on your accessory slots. If you feel weak in combat, do not just look for better armor—review your accessories and upgrade them first. They provide a wide range of bonuses, from extra defense and attack damage to movement speed and special abilities.
It is highly recommended to have EMI and EMI Loot installed. Many mobs drop items you will need for progression, and some are required to advance. Without these tools, you may not know what to farm or which creatures to defeat next.
Understanding Progression
Terramity adds many new materials, and the order you obtain them matters. The mod’s guidebook contains a metal progression chart. Metals placed on the same horizontal line are the same tier, so you can choose which path to take. Higher tiers are always better.
The top three metals are locked behind a special material called Profanum, which you must obtain first. Some materials are also gated behind boss fights. For example,
black matter is only available after you defeat the Trial Guardian. If you are ever unsure what to do next, open the Bosses category in the guidebook. The bosses are listed from first to last in progression order, so follow that list.
Do not expect to get powerful weapons like the minigun early on. You will need to work through the tiers and defeat the required bosses to unlock the best gear.
Building an Accessory Loadout
Experimentation is key when building your accessory set. There is no single “best” loadout—what works for one player may fail for another. Try combining items to create synergies.
For a luck-based build, equip the Luck Ring + to gain Luck II at all times. Pair it with the
Lucky Dice, which allows you to deal critical hits. The Luck Ring + increases your chance of landing those critical hits, making the two items work together effectively.
Explosives and Server Safety
Explosives are fun, but they can be dangerous on multiplayer servers where you do not trust everyone. Terramity includes a gamerule to disable all player-controlled explosives. This is useful for protecting builds you care about.
Later in the mod, you will need to throw a specific item into a black hole, which normally requires an explosive. If you disable explosives with the gamerule, the black hole bomb will simply drop the required item when it explodes instead of causing destruction. Use this command:
- `/gamerule AllowTerramityExplosives false`
Playing Multiplayer
Terramity works fine in singleplayer, but multiplayer is encouraged for both cooperative play and PvP. The mod includes boss health scaling based on the number of players in the arena. More players means a tougher boss, so fights remain fair for groups.
For PvP, set up an arena and challenge friends to one-on-one duels. The winner will be the player who builds the best combination of accessories, armor, and weapons. This is a great way to test your loadouts and learn what works.
Final Advice
If you ever feel lost, return to the guidebook. It is your main tool for knowing what to do next. Check your accessories before blaming your armor, and pay attention to the boss order. With patience and the right gear, you will progress through Terramity’s content step by step.
