Finding Terramity Structures and Biomes
This guide covers the structures, biomes, and worldgen features you can locate in the Terramity mod. Each structure appears only in specific biome groups, and the mod uses a region-based placement system to control how often they generate. Understanding these rules helps you search efficiently rather than wandering aimlessly.
Structure Placement Basics
Terramity structures do not generate in every chunk. Instead, the mod divides the world into square chunk regions and makes one generation attempt per region. The size of the region and the minimum distance between successful spawns vary by structure. If a structure fails its placement roll in a region, it simply does not appear there. You can use the spacing values to estimate how far apart successful finds will be.
Court Of Gnomes
The Court Of Gnomes is a structure that generates in biomes tagged under the `court_of_gnomes_biomes` group. The mod makes one placement attempt per 46x46 chunk region, and any two successful courts will be at least 15 chunks apart. Because the region is large and the minimum spacing is relatively close to the region size, you may find several courts in a broad area, but they will never cluster too tightly. Look for this structure when exploring the specific biome types that the tag covers.
Chthonic Cathedral
The Chthonic Cathedral is a major landmark structure. It generates in biomes from the `chthonic_cathedral_biomes` tag. Placement is attempted once per 46x46 chunk region, but the minimum distance between two cathedrals is a substantial 44 chunks. This means that even if a region roll succeeds, you will rarely encounter two cathedrals near each other. The large spacing makes this structure a rare find, so plan your search across a wide area. The cathedral is likely a large-scale build, so keep an eye out for unusual terrain or skyline changes.
Chthonic Dungeon
The Chthonic Dungeon is a smaller, more common underground-style structure. It spawns in biomes tagged with `chthonic_dungeon_biomes`. The mod attempts placement once per 22x22 chunk region, with a minimum separation of 18 chunks between dungeons. Because the region is much smaller than the cathedral's, you will encounter these dungeons more frequently. The tight spacing relative to the region size means that successful spawns can be relatively close together, so once you find one, search the surrounding chunks for another.
Sword Shrine
The Sword Shrine is a dedicated structure for finding themed loot or challenges. It generates in biomes under the `sword_shrine_biomes` tag. Placement is attempted once per 25x25 chunk region, and successful shrines are at least 16 chunks apart. This gives a moderate density—more common than the cathedral but rarer than the dungeon. The shrine's name suggests it is tied to sword-related content, so check it thoroughly when you locate one.
Fairy Fountain
The Fairy Fountain is a smaller, whimsical structure. It appears in biomes tagged with `fairy_fountain_biomes`. The mod makes one placement attempt per 21x21 chunk region, with a minimum distance of 12 chunks between fountains. This is the most frequent structure in terms of region size, so you are likely to find fountains regularly while exploring their designated biomes. The close minimum spacing means that a successful region can sometimes yield two fountains within a short walk.
Scorched Caves
The Scorched Caves are a biome rather than a structure. They are defined by a hot climate, with a temperature value of 1.5. This makes them significantly hotter than most vanilla biomes. You will know you are in a Scorched Cave biome when the environment feels extremely arid and warm. The biome also has specific monster spawns: zombies, skeletons, and creepers. These are the standard hostile mobs, but they will appear in this biome according to Terramity's spawning rules. When exploring Scorched Caves, prepare for combat with these three mob types.
Practical Searching Tips
To find any of these features, first identify which biome tag applies to the structure you want. Then, travel in a straight line across that biome, covering distance in chunks. Since placement is per region, moving diagonally can help you cross new regions faster. For rare structures like the Chthonic Cathedral, you may need to travel thousands of blocks. For common ones like the Fairy Fountain, a few hundred blocks of travel should reveal one. Always carry enough supplies for extended exploration, especially in hot biomes like the Scorched Caves, where environmental conditions may affect your strategy.
