Tetra Basics: Finding Geodes and Building Your First Crafting Table

Finding Geodes

Geodes are your primary source of pristine minerals in tetra. These structures are identifiable by a subtle glimmer they emit from within when exposed to light. If you see a faint, internal shimmer coming from a rock formation, that is a strong sign a geode is present.

To extract the valuable materials from a geode, you will need to break it open at a workbench. Do not expect to simply mine it in the field. The breaking process at the workbench is where the geode yields its contents. The drops you receive are not fixed; they are affected by the Fortune enchantment. If you want to maximize your yield of valuable minerals, apply a Fortune-enchanted tool before you process the geode.

Setting Up Your First Crafting Table

Your primary hub for all tetra crafting is the workbench. This is where you will turn raw geode findings into usable items and construct the modular tools that define the mod. The workbench itself is the central interface for all the recipes listed below.

The crafting system contains 22 distinct recipes. While you will learn them all over time, the core ones for starting out focus on converting your geode spoils and basic materials.

Converting Pristine Minerals

The most direct use for your geode findings is converting them into standard, usable resources. These recipes are simple and essential for early progression:

Basic Utility and Storage

You will also need to craft basic items for your workshop. A key early item is the Rack, which is made from 2 Iron Nuggets and an Oak Slab. This provides a place to store and display your components.

Another useful item is the holo, crafted from 4 Metal Scrap and a Redstone Lamp.

Creating Modular Components

The heart of tetra is its modular system. You will frequently craft the modular_double and modular_single components, which serve as the base for many tools and weapons.

The modular_double is a versatile component with many variations. It can be crafted using 2 Planks of any common wood type (Acacia, Birch, Dark Oak, Jungle, Oak, Spruce) combined with 2 Wooden Rods (represented by the tag `#forge:rods/wooden`). You can also use stone materials for this component, as the recipe works with 2 Andesite, 2 Diorite, 2 Granite, or 2 Cobblestone, each paired with 2 Wooden Rods.

The modular_single is crafted by combining an Earthpiercer with 2 Sticks.

For melee combat, the modular_sword is your starting point. This is made by combining a Stonecutter with a Stick.

Finally, for storage on the go, you can craft a modular_toolbelt using 4 String.

Your first goal should be to locate a geode, process it at a workbench, and use the pristine minerals to craft the basic modular components. From there, you can begin experimenting with the different combinations of heads, handles, and bindings that the modular system offers.
