Building Storage Racks for Tetra Tools and Components

guide

What the Rack Is For

The Rack is a simple storage block that lets you keep your tetra tools and loose components organized and visible. It is not a crafting station—it is purely a display and storage solution for items you have already made or gathered.

Crafting the Rack

To craft a Rack, you need a shaped crafting recipe with exactly three items:

  • Iron Nugget x2
  • Oak Slab x1

Place the two Iron Nuggets in the left and right slots of the middle row, and put the Oak Slab in the center slot of the bottom row. This will produce one Rack. The recipe is cheap, so you can make several racks without much material cost.

How to Use the Rack

Once crafted, place the Rack on any solid surface, just like you would place a shelf or a chest. The rack is designed to hold items that you want to keep accessible but also want to see at a glance.

  • Storing tools: You can put a finished tetra tool—such as a hammer, pickaxe, or sword—into the rack. The tool will rest on the rack visibly, making it easy to grab when needed.
  • Storing components: Loose tetra components, such as heads, handles, or binding materials, can also be placed in the rack. This helps you sort and separate parts before you assemble them into a full tool.

To place an item into the rack, open your inventory and select the item you want to store, then interact with the rack. To remove an item, interact with the rack again and take the item back into your inventory.

Practical Tips for Organizing

Because the Rack is small and inexpensive, you can build multiple racks to create a dedicated storage wall. For example:

  • Place one rack for your primary tools and a second rack for spare components.
  • Put racks near your tetra workbench so that raw parts are within arm’s reach when you are assembling a new tool.
  • Use racks to display your best or most-used tools so you can see their condition and current modifications at a glance.

Limitations to Keep in Mind

The Rack holds items for storage and display, but it does not provide any crafting or upgrading functions. You still need to use the appropriate tetra crafting stations to assemble, modify, or repair your tools. The rack only keeps items in place and visible.

Also, the rack is not a large container. It is meant for a few items at a time, not for bulk storage. If you have many components, consider making several racks or using other storage methods alongside them.

Final Note

The Rack is a low-cost, practical addition to any tetra workshop. It helps you keep your tools and parts tidy, reduces time spent searching through chests, and gives you a clear view of what you have on hand. Build a few racks early, and you will find it much easier to manage your growing collection of tetra equipment.
