Mining Spinel Ore and Harvesting Timber in Shrouded Cliffs
Veins of Spinel Ore generate between elevation levels 1 and 63 underground across Overworld biomes in The Box Of Horrors. This atmospheric biome provides occult prospectors with rare crystalline minerals and four unique species of hardwood timber.
Prospecting and Refining Spinel Ore
Spinel Ore is a crystalline mineral deposit generating underground across Overworld biomes. The ore veins generate underground at heights between elevation level 1 and elevation level 63, generating in clusters of up to 7 ore blocks per vein, with up to 11 vein attempts per chunk.
Prospectors can extract refined
Spinel gemstones through two methods:
- Mining the ore block directly with an iron-tier or higher pickaxe drops raw Spinel gems.
- Smelting 1
Spinel Ore in any standard furnace or blast furnace refines the raw stone into 1
Spinel gem.
Nine Spinel gemstones arranged in a 3x3 crafting grid form 1
Spinel Block, providing compact mineral storage. Placing 1 Spinel Block back into any crafting grid square uncrafts it into 9 loose Spinel gems.
Spinel serves as an essential focusing crystal for crafting high-tech occult relics, including the plasma-firing Ray Gun.
Synthesizing Bloodstone Crystals
Bloodstone is a concentrated occult gemstone synthesized from refined spinel and redstone energy.
To craft 1
Bloodstone, place 1
Spinel gem in the center of a 3x3 crafting table and surround it with 8 Redstone Dust. The redstone powder infuses the crystalline lattice, converting the pink crystal into a crimson gem of potent vitality.
Similar to spinel, 9 Bloodstone gems craft into 1
Bloodstone Block for storage, which easily reverses back into 9 individual gems. Bloodstone is a mandatory ingredient when forging the Soul Stealer blade used to harvest mob souls.
Harvesting Cursed Timber in Shrouded Cliffs
The canopy of the Shrouded Cliffs is dominated by four distinct tree species, each providing unique wood grain textures for architectural construction:
- Black Walnut: Heavy dark timber with deep espresso bark and rich brown planks.
- Dogwood: Pale hardwood with light gray bark and creamy white interior planks.
- Sinistree: Haunted timber with eerie gnarled bark suited to gothic structures.
- Sassafras: Golden-tinted lumber with warm honey-colored planks.
Wood Processing and Carpentry
Harvested logs can be processed into standard building materials using traditional carpentry recipes:
- Placing 1 log into any crafting grid slot yields 4 planks (such as 1
Black Walnut Log into 4 Black Walnut Planks, or 1
Dogwood Log into 4 Dogwood Planks). - Arranging 4 matching logs in a 2x2 square crafts 3 bark-covered wood blocks (such as 4 Black Walnut Logs into 3 Black Walnut Wood).
- Stripping logs with any axe yields stripped logs and stripped wood blocks.
Planks from each species can be crafted into complete suites of matching stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, and buttons. Combining dark Black Walnut planks with pale Dogwood accents allows builders to construct striking timber-framed manors and foreboding forest lodges.
