Finding Twilight Forest Structures and Crafting Your First Tables
This guide explains how to locate the two main generated structures in the Twilight Forest Dungeons & Villages add-on and then craft the essential tables and tools you will need early on.
Finding the Structures
Both the Dungeon Hedge and the Twilight Village generate in specific biomes and follow the same placement rules. Each structure is attempted once per 34 by 34 chunk region, and any two of the same structure will always be at least 8 chunks apart. This spacing means you will never find them clustered together, but you also will not have to travel an absurd distance between them.
Dungeon Hedge
- This structure looks like a dense, overgrown maze of hedges.
- It is a good early target because it often contains useful loot and challenges that are manageable with basic gear.
- Search the appropriate biome tags for this structure, then use the 8-chunk minimum spacing rule to predict where the next one might be once you find the first.
Twilight Village
- This is a proper settlement with buildings and paths, offering a safer place to scavenge for supplies.
- It generates under the same placement rules as the Dungeon Hedge: one attempt per 34x34 chunk region, with at least 8 chunks between villages.
- Villages are ideal for finding food, basic materials, and sometimes even pre-placed crafting stations.
Crafting Your First Tables and Tools
Once you have gathered basic wood, stone, and other starter resources, you can craft several specialized tables. These are not just decorative; each one serves a distinct purpose for progression.
The Alchemy Table
- Recipe: Birch Planks x3 + Glass x2 + Glass Bottle + Smooth Stone Slab x3
- This table is your gateway to potion-related crafting. You will need to collect glass and a glass bottle, plus smooth stone slabs, which requires smelting stone in a furnace first.
The Butcher Table
- Recipe: twilight_oak_log x3 + Stick x4
- This is one of the simplest tables to make early on, since it only requires twilight oak logs and sticks. It is used for food preparation and meat-related crafting.
The Lumber Table
- Recipe: Diamond Axe + twilight_oak_planks + twilight_oak_log
- This table requires a diamond axe, so it is a mid-game goal. The diamond axe is consumed in the recipe, so do not craft this until you have a spare. The Lumber Table unlocks advanced woodworking recipes.
The Mycologist Table
- Recipe: Glass x2 + Red Mushroom Block + Mushroom Stem x2
- This table is for mushroom and fungi specialists. You will need to find a large red mushroom in the wild to get the mushroom block and stems.
The Twilight Composter
- Recipe: steeleaf_ingot x7
- This is the most expensive early table, requiring seven steeleaf ingots. Steeleaf is a metal you must find and smelt, so this composter is a later-game crafting station, likely for producing fertilizer or special soil.
The Mushgloom Torch
- Recipe: mushgloom + Stick -> Mushgloom Torch x4
- This is a simple tool recipe that gives you four torches per craft. A mushgloom is a glowing mushroom found in the Twilight Forest. This is an excellent way to light up your base or the Dungeon Hedge without using standard coal torches.
Crafting Strategy
Start by making a
Butcher Table since it is cheap and gives you a functional station almost immediately. Next, aim for the
Alchemy Table once you have a furnace and glass. Save the Lumber Table for after you find a diamond axe, and do not attempt the
Twilight Composter until you have a reliable steeleaf supply. Use Mushgloom Torches as your primary light source to conserve coal for smelting. The
Mycologist Table is worth making if you find a red mushroom biome, but it is not a priority for basic survival.
