Threateningly Mobs: Bosses, Nests and Summon Altars
Threateningly Mobs adds creatures and the places they live. This guide covers its 13 structures and the short recipe list behind them.
The mod is mobs, not machines
280 pages across 194 items and 86 blocks, with only 81 crafting recipes, 9 smelting, 6 smoking, 6 stonecutting and 1 blasting.
A hundred and three recipes against 194 items means most of what this mod adds is not crafted — it drops. The items are trophies and materials from creatures rather than things you assemble.
Thirteen structures, and the spread is the plan
The placement settings sort them into clear tiers:
- Zombiewarrior Outpost — spacing 40, separation 28, the rarest
- Dracoscorpius Nest — 36 and 24
- Titan Summon Altar and Underwater Altar — 36 and 18
- Worm Nest — 32 and 20
- Forestpalace — 27 and 22; Icepalace — 26 and 18; Flamepalace — 24 and 20
- Forestdrake Nest and Saintpalace — 24 and 16
- Sea Cucumber Nest — 20 and 12
- Castylosaurus Nest — spacing 8, separation 5
- Distortion Dungeon — spacing 8, separation 4
The palaces are the set pieces
Four palace structures — Forest, Ice, Flame and Saint — sit between spacings of 24 and 27. They are close enough in rarity to be treated as one tier, so working through all four is a reasonable goal rather than four separate expeditions.
Two structures are effectively everywhere
Castylosaurus Nest and Distortion Dungeon both generate at a spacing of 8. At that density they are not destinations; you will meet them repeatedly while travelling normally, which makes them the natural source of early materials.
Summon altars
Two altars — the Titan Summon Altar and the Underwater Altar — share a spacing of 36 with a separation of 18. Altars rather than lairs means the mod's largest creatures are called rather than found, so locating an altar is the prerequisite for the fight.
This line is 1.20.1 only
The build is 1.1.1 on Forge. There is no 1.21.1 release.
Where to start
Find a Castylosaurus Nest or a Distortion Dungeon — at a spacing of 8 they are unavoidable — and use what drops there to prepare for the palaces.
