Tide 2 Fishing Line Tiers and Their Crafting Recipes
Fishing line tiers in Tide 2 determine which line you attach to your rod, and each tier is crafted in a shaped recipe that builds on the one before it. The progression starts with plain
Fishing Line and climbs through copper, iron, gold, and finally diamond, with each upgrade consuming the previous line alongside two ingots or gems of the new material.
The Base Tier: Fishing Line
Every other line in the mod traces back to
Fishing Line. You make it in a shaped crafting recipe using three pieces of
String. Because string is easy to obtain, this is the entry point for anyone starting the line progression. Once you have
Fishing Line, you can either use it as-is or spend it as an ingredient in the next tier up.
Copper Line
Copper Line is the first upgrade. Its shaped recipe combines two
Copper Ingots with one
Fishing Line. The
Fishing Line is consumed in the process, so you are effectively trading your base line plus copper for a stronger one. Copper is common in most worlds, which makes this an accessible first step.
Iron Line
Iron Line follows the same pattern one tier higher. The shaped recipe calls for two
Iron Ingots plus one
Fishing Line. As with copper, the base line is used up as a crafting ingredient. Iron is a staple material, so this tier is usually reachable not long after the copper tier.
Golden Line
Golden Line continues the progression. You craft it with two
Gold Ingots and one
Fishing Line in a shaped recipe. Gold is less abundant than iron, so this tier asks for a bit more resource commitment. The structure of the recipe stays identical to the lower tiers: two of the metal, one line.
Diamond Line
Diamond Line is the top tier covered by these recipes. It is made in a shaped recipe from two
Diamonds plus one
Fishing Line. Diamonds are the scarcest ingredient in the chain, making this the most expensive line to produce. Like every tier before it, the recipe consumes a
Fishing Line as part of the craft.
How the Progression Works
The tiers form a straight chain rather than a branching tree. Each recipe takes exactly one
Fishing Line and two of a single material, and the output is the next line up.
Fishing Line: three
String
Copper Line: two
Copper Ingots + one
Fishing Line
Iron Line: two
Iron Ingots + one
Fishing Line
Golden Line: two
Gold Ingots + one
Fishing Line
Diamond Line: two
Diamonds + one
Fishing Line
A few practical points follow from this structure. First, you never need more than one base
Fishing Line per upgrade, because each recipe only consumes a single line. Second, the material cost doubles in rarity as you climb: string, then copper, then iron, then gold, then diamond. Third, since every recipe is shaped, the arrangement of ingredients in the crafting grid matters, not just the quantities.
Planning Your Crafts
If you intend to reach
Diamond Line, you do not need to craft every intermediate tier and keep it. Each step consumes the line below it, so the chain naturally collapses into the final product. You will still need to gather three
String to start, then the metals and gems for each stage you pass through. Skipping a tier is not possible with these recipes, because the higher tiers require a
Fishing Line as an ingredient rather than the tier directly below them — meaning you can craft any tier you have materials for, as long as you have a base
Fishing Line on hand.
That quirk is worth remembering:
Copper Line,
Iron Line,
Golden Line, and
Diamond Line all consume the same base
Fishing Line, so the base tier is the common ingredient across the entire set. Stocking up on
String and turning it into
Fishing Line in bulk lets you craft whichever tier your current materials support.
