Configuring Dimension Titles, Blacklists, and Display Timing in Traveler's Titles

guide

Traveler's Titles shows on-screen text when you enter a biome or dimension, and its settings let you decide which titles appear, which areas stay silent, and how the text behaves. All of this is handled through the mod's interface and hotkeys rather than any crafting recipe.

Enabling Dimension Titles

The Dimension Title Settings section controls titles tied to dimensions. The Enable Dimension Titles option turns dimension titles on or off entirely. When active, entering a dimension can trigger a title display, and the related sound settings below apply.

Two audio options sit in this section: Dimension Sound Effect Volume sets how loud the sound is when a dimension title appears, and Dimension Sound Effect Pitch sets its pitch. Note that custom sounds only take effect if you supply them through a resource pack.

Blacklisting Dimensions

The Blacklisted Dimensions option lists dimensions where no title should display on entry. The expected format follows the example pattern of dimension identifiers separated by commas inside brackets, such as a list containing the Overworld and the Nether. Any dimension you add here is skipped when you enter it.

If you want a title to appear only in open areas, use Only Show Dimension Titles When Exposed To Skylight. With this on, dimensions that have no ceiling will show dimension titles only when you are actually exposed to the sky, which keeps titles from appearing while you are underground.

You can also choose whether dimension text is centered on screen. When centering is enabled, the text offset options are measured from the middle of the screen; when it is disabled, they are measured from the screen edges.

Biome Titles and Their Blacklist

The Biome Title Settings section mirrors much of the dimension side. Enable Biome Titles toggles biome titles, and Blacklisted Biomes works the same way as the dimension list: add biome identifiers in the bracketed, comma-separated format, and those biomes will not produce a title when you enter them.

Only Show Biome Titles When Exposed To Skylight applies the same surface rule to biomes, so in ceiling-free dimensions titles only appear when you have open sky above you, not while you are below ground.

Timing and Appearance

Several options shape how the text behaves once a title is triggered. Text Fade-In Time, Text Fade-Out Time, and the display duration are all measured in ticks, where twenty ticks equal one second. Text Cooldown Time sets the minimum gap in ticks that must pass after one biome title before another can appear, which helps prevent spam when you move quickly.

To further reduce repetition, Number of Most Recent Biomes Saved controls how many recently visited biomes are remembered. Titles for those remembered biomes are suppressed, so if the value is five, your five most recent biomes are tracked.

For readability, Display Text Shadow adds a shadow beneath the text. Text Color sets the default color, and the horizontal and vertical offset options position the text, measured from the screen center when centering is on and from the screen edge when it is off. Reset Biome Cache When Changing Dimensions decides whether the remembered-biome list is cleared each time you switch dimensions.

Sounds and Messages

Biome Sound Effect Volume and Biome Sound Effect Pitch control the audio played alongside a biome title, matching the dimension equivalents. As with dimension sounds, custom audio requires a resource pack.

If something is misconfigured, the mod may report that a given entry does not seem to be a valid biome, or that no title was found for a biome. Both messages point to a name that does not match anything the mod recognizes, so check the identifier you entered.
