Traveler's Titles Guide: Biome and Dimension Popups, Settings, and Hotkeys
Traveler's Titles is a Minecraft utility mod that displays an on-screen popup naming the biome or dimension a player has just entered. It is operated entirely through its settings interface and hotkeys, with no crafting involved. When you cross into a new biome, a title appears briefly with that biome's name; the same happens when you move into a different dimension. Each popup fades in, holds for a set duration, then fades out, and a sound effect can accompany it.
How the Popups Behave
A biome title triggers when you enter a biome that has a title assigned. If the mod cannot match what you entered, it can show invalid ("does not seem to be a valid biome") or notfound ("No title found for biome"). Titles exist for many named places, including Insufferable Crypt, Prisoners' Quarters, Winter Alpha Islands, Amethyst Rainforest, Forested Highlands, Snowy Cherry Grove, Snowy Maple Forest, Temperate Highlands, Underground Jungle, Destitute Garrison, Ravenous Greenwood, Clandestine Castlegrounds, Darkthunder Thicket, Titan Dripstone Cavern, Crystalline Cavity, Crystallized Peaks, and Void Inverse Below.
Dimension titles work the same way but fire when you change dimensions rather than biomes.
Two safeguards reduce popup spam. The mod remembers a list of your most recently visited biomes, and its size is set by Number of Most Recent Biomes Saved — for example, a value of 5 keeps your five latest biomes. You can also choose whether that list is wiped whenever you change dimensions via Reset Biome Cache When Changing Dimensions. Separately, Text Cooldown Time sets the minimum wait before another title can appear.
Only Show Biome Titles When Exposed To Skylight and its dimension counterpart restrict popups to moments when you can see the sky, which keeps titles from appearing while you are underground in dimensions that have no ceiling.
Where the Settings Live
Settings are split into two sections: Biome Title Settings and Dimension Title Settings. Each has an Enable Biome Titles or Enable Dimension Titles toggle.
For each type you can control:
- Text Fade-In Time, Text Fade-Out Time, and the display duration, all measured in ticks, where 20 ticks equals one second.
- Text Cooldown Time, the minimum gap between titles.
- Text Color, the default RGB color of the text.
- Display Text Shadow, which draws a shadow under the text for readability.
- Text X Offset and Text Y Offset, the text's position. When Horizontally Center Title is on, these are measured from screen center; when off, from the top and left edges.
- Blacklisted Biomes and Blacklisted Dimensions, lists of entries that should never show a title, written in the form "[minecraft:plains, minecraft:desert]".
- Sound options: Biome Sound Effect Volume, Biome Sound Effect Pitch, Dimension Sound Effect Volume, and Dimension Sound Effect Pitch. Custom sounds require adding them through a resource pack.
Hotkeys
The mod's actions are bound to hotkeys rather than menu clicks. To trigger an action, use the corresponding hotkey, which you can set in the controls menu. No specific key is assigned by default in the information available here, so assign your own binding there.
