Upgrading Aquatic Weapons with Smithing in Unusual Fish

guide

Smithing transform in Unusual Fish upgrades specialized weapon components into endgame aquatic armaments using modular templates and marine monster drops. Rather than crafting finished weapons directly on a wooden workbench, deep-sea hunters forge advanced tools at the smithing table. This modular smithing system allows players to reforge base mechanical parts into heavy harvesting scythes and high-speed rotary saws.

Acquiring and Duplicating Smithing Templates

Upgrading weapons requires the mod's specialized Smithing Template. This blueprint cannot be crafted from scratch with ordinary minerals. Instead, players obtain the template as a gameplay drop through Sea Pancake Search activities while exploring the oceans.

Because templates are consumed during smithing transformations, duplicating the first blueprint is essential before beginning fabrication.

  • The duplication recipe requires seven Sand blocks, one Smithing Template, and one raw unusual fish specimen.
  • In a three-by-three crafting table, place the smithing template in the top-center slot.
  • Place the raw unusual fish in the center slot directly beneath the template.
  • Fill the remaining seven slots entirely with sand blocks.
  • Completing the recipe yields two Smithing Template items, allowing players to preserve one blueprint in storage while consuming the other.

Forging Weapons in the Smithing Table

Once a template is secured, players assemble specialized weapons using the three-slot smithing table interface.

  • Forging the Depth Scythe on Minecraft 1.21.1 requires placing one Smithing Template in the left template slot, one Weapon Parts in the center equipment slot, and one Depth Claw in the right addition slot. The resulting scythe delivers wide cleaving arcs across underwater combat zones.
  • Forging the Ripsaw across both 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 requires placing one Smithing Template in the template slot, one Weapon Parts in the equipment slot, and one Ripper Tooth in the addition slot. The ripsaw functions as a rapid-action aquatic blade powered by monster serrations.

Complementary Aquatic Weaponry and Devices

Beyond smithing transformations, marine monster drops yield additional specialized ocean gear.

  • Crafting one Prismarine Spear requires two Lobster Spike items and three Prismarine Shard pieces arranged diagonally across a crafting grid.
  • Crafting two units of Sea Spine requires one Prismarine Bricks block in the center, flanked by four Lobster Spike items on the cardinal sides and four Copper Ingot pieces in the corners.
  • For tracking electric marine life, one Volt Detector is crafted using two Prismarine Crystals, one Shocking Tendril, five Copper Ingot, and one Block of Redstone.
  • One Copper Antenna can be assembled from one Shocking Tendril and one Copper Ingot.
  • Illuminating abyssal ocean trenches uses the Nautical Lamp, crafted in batches of three from five Prismarine Shard, one Prismarine Crystals, one Shocking Tendril, and two glass panes.
