Advancement Challenges in Vanilla Backport: Heart Transplanter, Bundles of Bravery, and The Garden Awakens

guide

Vanilla Backport adds several advancement challenges that ask you to perform specific actions with new blocks, items, and creatures. This guide covers what those challenges require and how to operate the related features through the mod's interface and hotkeys.

Advancement Challenges

These challenges appear as titled advancements, each with a description telling you what to do.

  • Heart Transplanter — The description asks you to position a Creaking Heart so it sits correctly aligned between two Pale Oak Log blocks.
  • Bundles of Bravery — This advancement covers several separate tasks. Its descriptions include placing a Dried Ghast block into water, removing Wolf Armor from a Wolf with Shears, fully repairing damaged Wolf Armor using Armadillo Scutes, having a Sulfur Cube absorb a TNT block, and taming one of each Wolf variant.
  • The Garden Awakens — A separate titled advancement in the same set.

Operating the Interface

Vanilla Backport is used through its interface and hotkeys rather than through crafting. When an action has a corresponding control, trigger it with the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu). One control listed is Air Drag Modifier. Another capability lets you hold a mixed stack of items.

Blocks and Building Pieces

A range of decorative and functional blocks is available, including:

  • Chiseled Resin Bricks
  • Cinnabar Brick Slab, Cinnabar Brick Stairs, Cinnabar Brick Wall
  • Polished Cinnabar Slab, Polished Cinnabar Stairs, Polished Cinnabar Wall
  • Polished Sulfur Slab, Polished Sulfur Stairs, Polished Sulfur Wall
  • Resin Brick Stairs, Sulfur Brick Stairs
  • Pale Oak Fence Gate, Pale Oak Pressure Plate
  • Pale Oak Hanging Sign, Pale Oak Wall Hanging Sign, Pale Oak Wall Sign
  • Stripped Pale Oak Log, Stripped Pale Oak Wood
  • Potted Closed Eyeblossom, Potted Open Eyeblossom, Potted Pale Oak Sapling

Items and Spawn Eggs

Several items and spawn eggs are part of the mod:

  • Creaking Spawn Egg, Happy Ghast Spawn Egg, Sulfur Cube Spawn Egg
  • Light Blue Harness, Light Gray Harness
  • Pale Oak Boat with Chest (labeled as a pale oak chest boat)
  • Bucket of Sulfur Cube (labeled as a sulfur cube bucket)

Music Tracks

Three music descriptions are included: fingerspit - Bounce, Hyper Potions - Lava Chicken, and Amos Roddy - Tears.

Sounds and Messages

The mod includes ambient, spawn, and event sounds and messages tied to its creatures and blocks.

  • A Creaking Heart grumbles when hurt, awakens when it spawns, and a Creaking manifests when it spawns.
  • A Dried Ghast rehydrates in ambient water and feels better during a transition.
  • An Eyeblossom whispers when idle.
  • A Happy Ghast croons when ambient, and is ready when its harness goggles go down.
  • A Sulfur spring bursts during a geyser eruption, and noxious gas appears.
  • A Small Sulfur Cube dies, puts on mass when eating, hurts, and bounces when jumping. A Sulfur Cube bounces and can be pushed.
  • A Sulfur Cube can be scooped, shown by the fill sulfur cube message.
  • A death message reads that someone died because not just the floor is lava, and a player message reads that someone showed someone that not just the floor is lava.
  • A setting note states that Sulfur Cube explosions are disabled.

Practical Notes

If you are pursuing Heart Transplanter, focus on the alignment of the Creaking Heart relative to the two Pale Oak Log blocks, since the description calls out correct alignment specifically. For Bundles of Bravery, work through each listed task in turn: the Dried Ghast in water, the Shears action on Wolf Armor, the Armadillo Scute repair, the Sulfur Cube absorbing TNT, and taming every Wolf variant. Remember that explosions from Sulfur Cubes can be disabled, which matters if a task involves a Sulfur Cube and TNT.
