Using Hit Particles, Shiny Armor, and Shiny Blocks in Visuality: Reforged

guide

Visuality: Reforged is a visual utility mod that adds extra particle effects to the game, and this guide covers three of its features: Hit Particles, Shiny Armor, and Shiny Blocks. Each of these features can be turned on or off and each keeps its own list of entries that decides where the effect applies. All of them are handled through the mod's interface and its hotkeys rather than through crafting or items.

Hit Particles

Hit Particles adds particle effects when something is hit. The feature has a simple on/off state, so you can switch the whole effect off if you do not want it.

  • Hit Particles Enabled — toggles the feature on or off.
  • Hit Particles Entries — the list that controls which hits produce the effect.

The entries list is the part worth understanding. Instead of applying hit particles everywhere, the mod checks this list to decide what qualifies. If something is not covered by an entry, hitting it will not trigger the effect. If you want the particles to appear for a particular target, that target needs to be represented in the entries list; if you want to stop the effect for something, remove or avoid adding it there. Turning Hit Particles Enabled off disables the effect regardless of what the entries list contains, so the toggle is the quickest way to silence the feature entirely.

Shiny Armor

Shiny Armor gives armor a shiny particle effect. Like the other features here, it has a master toggle and its own entries list.

  • Shiny Armor Enabled — toggles the feature on or off.
  • Shiny Armor Entries — the list that controls which armor receives the effect.

The entries list determines which armor pieces are treated as shiny. Armor that is not included in the list will not get the effect, even while the feature is enabled. This means you can keep the shine limited to specific armor rather than applying it to everything a player wears. If the effect is not showing up on a piece of armor you expect it on, the entries list is the first thing to check. If you want to remove the effect everywhere at once, switch Shiny Armor Enabled off instead of editing the list.

Shiny Blocks

Shiny Blocks applies a shiny particle effect to blocks. It follows the same pattern as the armor feature: one toggle plus one entries list.

  • Shiny Blocks Enabled — toggles the feature on or off.
  • Shiny Blocks Entries — the list that controls which blocks receive the effect.

Only blocks covered by the entries list will shine. Blocks outside the list stay unaffected. This gives you control over where the effect appears instead of applying it to every block in view. As with the other two features, the enabled toggle overrides the list: turning it off stops the effect for all blocks, while leaving it on and adjusting the entries list lets you fine-tune which blocks are included.

Operating the Features

All three features are operated the same way. Open the mod's interface to reach the toggles and the entries lists, and use the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to open that interface if one is assigned. From there you can enable or disable Hit Particles, Shiny Armor, and Shiny Blocks, and edit each feature's entries list to choose what the effect applies to.

A practical approach is to decide first whether you want a feature at all, then decide where it should apply. Use the enabled toggle for the first decision and the entries list for the second. If an effect appears somewhere you do not want it, remove that item from the relevant entries list. If it fails to appear where you do want it, confirm the feature is enabled and that the target is present in the list. Because each feature has its own separate list, changing Shiny Blocks Entries has no effect on Shiny Armor Entries or Hit Particles Entries, and each toggle only controls its own feature.

The mod also includes other particle settings beyond these three, such as slime blobs, charge particles, sparkle particles, soul particles, and water circles with their own color, density, and radius options, but the toggles and entries lists described above are what govern Hit Particles, Shiny Armor, and Shiny Blocks.
