Configuring Xaero's Minimap Entity Radar and Tracked Players
Entity Radar Basics
The Entity Radar is a core feature that shows nearby creatures, players, and items on your minimap. You can turn the entire radar on or off with the Toggle Entity Radar action. When enabled, entities appear as colored dots or icons depending on your settings.
To control what appears, open the Entity Radar Settings screen. From there, you can adjust dot size, icon usage, name display, and depth fading. The Main Entity Dot Size option changes the size of the dot representing your own character. Display Entity Height adds a vertical indicator for each entity's Y-level relative to yours.
Entity Categories
The Entity Category Settings screen lets you configure groups of entities separately. Common categories include players, hostile mobs, friendly mobs, items, and others. You can create custom categories for specific entity types.
Each category has its own settings for dot color, icon, name rendering, and inclusion rules. The Hard Include option controls which entities automatically belong to that category. You can also add an Include List with specific entity IDs, player names, or patterns. The Exclude List removes entities from a category. Patterns support wildcards like `*` and the OR operator `|` for matching multiple sequences.
Categories are hierarchical. Sub-categories inherit from their parent (super-category). The Include in Super-Category option automatically adds entities from a sub-category's lists to its parent. When multiple categories could include the same entity, the one listed higher takes priority. New custom categories should usually be placed at the top.
You can protect a category from accidental changes with Category Protection. This prevents deleting, moving, renaming, or altering its Hard Include setting. Duplicate, delete, or reset categories through the confirmation prompts. The Radar Render Order setting controls which categories draw first, with lower numbers rendered earlier.
Icons and Names
For each category, you can choose whether to display icons instead of plain colored dots. The Render Entity Icons option switches between dots and icons. The Render Entity Names option shows name labels under the dots or icons. Both have a "Player List" mode that only renders when you hold the key bound to List Players (TAB by default).
The Always Render Entity Name Tags option forces name rendering for entities that already have name tags, regardless of the normal name setting. If an icon fails to load, the Entity Name When Icon Fails option determines what text appears instead.
Tracked Players
Tracked Players are players whose locations are shared with you, usually party members or allies. The Display Tracked Players option shows markers for these players when they are outside the minimap frame or otherwise not visible.
You can enable On-Map Tracked Players to show their markers on the minimap itself. In-World Tracked Players places markers in the 3D world at their positions. Both have separate toggle actions. Adjust the Tracked Player On-Map Scale for minimap icon size, Tracked Player In-World Scale for world marker size, and Tracked Player Name Scale for name text size.
Interface and Hotkeys
To customize the radar interface, enter edit mode while in game. Left-click selects an interface, and dragging moves it. Right-click deselects. Press C to center or uncenter the selected interface. Press F to flip it. Press S to open its settings quickly. The Enlarge Minimap key binding can be treated as a toggle instead of requiring you to hold it.
The Info Display Manager controls what text appears under the minimap, such as coordinates, biome, dimension, and facing angles. You can rearrange these elements by clicking and dragging them.
Additional Options
The Entity Height Limit sets the maximum Y-level difference for entities to appear on the radar. Min Y Distance For Depth Fade controls when entities start darkening based on depth. Hide Invisible Entities removes invisible mobs from the radar entirely.
The Reverse Radar Render Order flips the drawing sequence. Render Radar Over Frame draws entities on top of the minimap frame instead of inside it, with a "Player List" mode available. Render Over Minimap Frame behaves similarly but applies to all radar elements.
Remember that servers can disable certain mod features. The Minimap Server Settings screen shows what the server has restricted. Some options may require you to be in game before they become available.
