Managing Waypoints and Sets in Xaero's Minimap
This guide explains how to create, organize, share, and teleport to waypoints, as well as how to manage waypoint sets and their associated worlds or servers.
Opening the Waypoint Screen
To begin working with waypoints, use the Open Waypoint Screen action via its corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu). The screen lets you view, add, edit, and delete waypoints. You can also access the screen's Options menu from within it to configure world-specific settings.
Creating and Editing Waypoints
When you add or edit a waypoint, you can set its name, coordinates, and visibility type. The Enabled type is a regular waypoint. Disabled makes it a hidden waypoint. Temporary waypoints disappear when you exit the world. Destination waypoints disappear once you reach them. You can also choose to place new waypoints at the bottom of the list instead of the top via the New Waypoints to Bottom setting. If a waypoint lacks a Y coordinate, you cannot teleport to it until you edit it to specify one.
Teleporting
The Default Teleport Command setting defines the command used when no world-specific or server-specific command is set in the waypoint screen's Options menu. A separate Default Teleport Rotation Command handles teleportation with rotation. If the Hide Waypoint Coordinates option is enabled, teleportation may be blocked to avoid exposing the coordinates. In that case, disable the hiding option to teleport freely. You can also enable Use Y With Partial When TP to offset the Y coordinate by 0.5, preventing falls through carpet-like blocks.
Sharing Waypoints
You can share a waypoint with everyone in chat. Before doing so, the mod will ask for confirmation, warning you not to expose a secret location. When another player shares a waypoint with you, you will receive a chat message with an [Add] button to add it to your list.
Managing Waypoint Sets
Waypoints are organized into sets. Use the Switch Waypoint Set option to change which set is active. You can clear a set, which deletes all waypoints within it, or delete the entire set from the current world. Both actions require confirmation. The Transfer All Waypoints option moves waypoints between sets or worlds. Use the From Sub-World/Dimension and To Sub-World/Dimension dropdowns to specify the source and destination.
World and Server Management
The waypoint screen includes a Waypoint Server/World dropdown and a Waypoint Sub-World/Dimension dropdown. You can delete all waypoint data for a selected world or server, or for a specific sub-world, with confirmation. The Make World/Server Auto option swaps waypoint data between the selected world and the automatic one. Similarly, Make Sub-World Auto does this for sub-worlds. Use Add Sub-World Connection or Delete Sub-World Connection to link or unlink sub-worlds that belong to the same save or server. Only connect sub-worlds that are genuinely related, such as those linked by a Nether portal, to avoid unsafe teleportation. If you attempt to teleport to an unconnected sub-world, the mod will warn you and suggest adding a connection.
Coordinate Adjustments
For sub-worlds, you can multiply all coordinates by 8 or divide them by 8. These operations are intended only to fix incorrect coordinates and require confirmation. You may also need to visit a dimension first before converting it to a new format.
Display and Rendering Options
The Toggle In-World Waypoints and Toggle On-Map Waypoints actions control visibility. Render All Waypoint Sets displays waypoints from every set at once. The Toggle All WP Sets Render option does the same. Max WP Render Dist. and Min WP Render Dist. set the distance limits for local waypoints, while global waypoints ignore these limits. Enable Dimension-scaled Max WP Distance to scale the maximum distance by the dimension's coordinate scale (such as 1/8 in the Nether). In-World Waypoint Scale, In-World Waypoint Icon Scale, and In-World Waypoint Up-Close Scale adjust sizes in the world. Text scaling is handled by Waypoint Name Text Scale and Waypoint Distance Text Scale. The WP Name Above Distance option determines whether names appear above distances. You can also configure Waypoint Opacity in World and Waypoint Opacity on Map. The Always Disp. Dist. to WP option shows distances even when very close to the waypoint.
