Reading and Navigating Xaero's World Map
guide
Xaero's World Map opens a full-screen chart of the terrain you have explored, so you can plan routes and find your way home without wandering. The map fills in as you travel, and everything on this screen is drawn from places you have actually visited.
Moving around the map
- Click and drag anywhere to scroll the view across the world at your own pace.
- Zoom in and out with the mouse wheel, or with the dedicated zoom-in and zoom-out keys if you prefer the keyboard. The Display Zoom Level option can print the current zoom on screen so you always know how far in you are.
- To jump straight to a place, open the coordinate entry and type a space-separated X and Z value, then press enter; the map recenters there instantly.
- If you travel between dimensions, a single key toggles which dimension's map you are viewing, and holding shift cycles the other way.
Reading what is on screen
- Cursor Coordinates print the world position beneath your pointer, so you can read the exact coordinates of anything you can see on the map.
- Render Player Arrow marks your own position and facing, letting you tell which way you are pointed at a glance.
- Biomes In Vanilla Mode switches biome coloring to the game's own palette if you prefer the familiar colors over the mod's shading.
Teleporting and performance
- When the server permits it, right-clicking a spot can teleport you there. Whether that is allowed is a server-side choice, and teleporting to a waypoint is handled separately in the waypoint menu.
- Texture Compression trades a little map sharpness for lower memory use, which helps on large explored worlds, and Ignore Server Heightmaps changes how terrain height is read on servers where the map looks wrong.
The map carries its own settings screen, opened directly from the map view, where every option described here can be turned on or off. Between scrolling, zooming, and the coordinate jump, you can cross an entire explored world in seconds and always know precisely where you stand.
