Managing Waypoints on the World Map

guide

Xaero's World Map draws your waypoints right on the chart, so the markers you set for bases, mines, and landmarks appear in context alongside the terrain. A handful of options decide which markers show and when, letting you keep the map as clean or as detailed as you like.

Showing and hiding markers

  • Waypoint rendering can be switched on or off as a whole, so you can flip between a bare map and one dotted with every marker you own.
  • Disabled waypoints — the ones you have turned off but not deleted — can be revealed or hidden as a group. That is useful when you want to see everything you have ever marked without permanently re-enabling each one by hand.
  • World Map Waypoints decides whether your markers are drawn on this full-screen map at all, independently of how they show elsewhere in the mod.

Controlling clutter with zoom

  • Min Zoom For Local Waypoints sets how far in you must be before local waypoints appear. Local markers are tied to a particular area, and raising this threshold stops them from crowding the view while you are zoomed out looking at the whole world. Zoom back in and they return on their own.

Working with a marker

A waypoint mini-menu can be opened and closed from the map, giving you quick actions on a marker without leaving the map screen. The complete set of waypoint options, including exactly how teleporting to a waypoint behaves, lives in the dedicated waypoint menu rather than on the map itself.

On a server running the Open Parties and Claims mod, the world map can also shade claimed chunks, with separate opacity sliders for the claim border and its fill, so you can see which land is already spoken for before you build. Because these are the same waypoints the rest of the mod uses, anything you mark on the world map is available on your minimap too. The options here only change how and when those markers are drawn — they never alter the markers themselves, so you can experiment freely with the display and switch it back at any time.
