XP Tome: Two Items, One Recipe

guide

XP Tome stores experience in a book. This guide covers its scope, which is deliberately narrow.

The smallest possible shape

2 pages, 2 items, 1 crafting recipe, no blocks, no structures.

One recipe producing one of two items means the second item is almost certainly a filled or upgraded state of the first rather than a separate craft. There is no tier ladder and nothing else to make.

Why experience storage is worth a mod

Experience is the only vanilla resource that cannot be put in a chest. It cannot be moved between bases, cannot be insured against death, and cannot be stockpiled for a big enchanting session.

A tome that banks it changes the risk profile of enchanting-heavy play — which is why a two-item mod can matter more than its size suggests.

Compare with XP Storage

This wiki also covers XP Storage, which solves the same problem with 5 items and up to 10 recipes, including upgrade and deprecate paths on 1.21.1.

The two are alternatives rather than complements: XP Tome is the minimal version, XP Storage the one with tiers. Running both would be redundant.

Both builds carry the same recipe

The versions are v2.4 on NeoForge (1.21.1) and v2.2.1 on Forge (1.20.1), each with a single crafting recipe. Nothing about the content differs.

No dependency, no footprint

The mod registers no blocks, generates no worldgen, and needs no partner mod. It can be added to or removed from a world at any time, and it occupies no space in a base.

Where to start

Craft it, fill it, and carry it. There is no second step, no upgrade to work toward and nothing to build — this is a one-recipe utility that you set up once.

Judging the size

Two pages is as small as a functioning mod gets on this wiki. That is not a criticism: the mod does one thing that vanilla refuses to do, and doing it takes exactly one item.

The one thing to check before installing

If your pack already includes XP Storage, or any other experience-banking mod, this one is redundant rather than complementary — two mods solving the same vanilla gap will simply both work, and you will carry two books.

Scale

2 pages, 2 items, 0 blocks, 0 structures, 1 crafting recipe. Versions v2.4 (NeoForge, 1.21.1) and v2.2.1 (Forge, 1.20.1), identical in content.

What a one-recipe mod is good at

Nothing about it competes for a bench, a machine slot or a chunk. It cannot conflict with a tech mod, cannot break worldgen, and can be removed from a save with the loss of nothing but the tome itself. For a pack already heavy with systems, that lightness is the feature.
