The XP Tome is a single crafted item with a single recipe behind it. That is the whole shape of this mod: two ingredient types, one shaped recipe, one result. This guide covers what goes into the recipe and how the grid is arranged, and nothing beyond what the recipe itself defines.

The Recipe

The XP Tome is made with a shaped crafting recipe. The ingredients are four Ender Pearl items and one Book.

  • 4 Ender Pearl
  • 1 Book
  • Result: 1 XP Tome

The four Ender Pearl occupy four of the nine slots in the crafting grid, with the Book filling one more. The remaining slots stay empty.

Reading the Ingredient Tag

The recipe does not demand one specific pearl item. It accepts the `c:ender_pearls` tag, a common convention that groups together anything registered as an ender pearl. In practice that means the recipe is written against the tag rather than against a single hardcoded item, so any item carrying that tag satisfies the pearl portion of the recipe.

For a player at a crafting table, the practical effect is simple: the pearls you already know how to obtain are the pearls this recipe wants. There is no special variant to hunt down and no substitute item to learn.

What You Need Before You Start

Two things, gathered separately:

  • Four Ender Pearl
  • One Book

The Book is the ordinary book item. The Ender Pearl are the ordinary ender pearl item. Neither ingredient is transformed, charged, or upgraded before crafting — they go into the grid as they are.

Crafting the XP Tome

  1. Open a crafting grid.
  2. Place the four Ender Pearl into four of the slots.
  3. Place the Book into one of the remaining slots.
  4. Confirm the shaped arrangement matches the recipe.
  5. Take the XP Tome from the result slot.

Because the recipe is shaped, the arrangement matters. A shaped recipe checks where each ingredient sits in the grid, not merely which ingredients are present. If the Book and the Ender Pearl are laid out in an arrangement the recipe does not recognize, the result slot stays empty even though every required item is on the grid. Rearranging the same five items into the correct pattern is what produces the XP Tome.

Why the Recipe Is Worth Knowing

The ingredient list is short, which makes the XP Tome easy to plan around. Once you know it takes four Ender Pearl and one Book, you know exactly what to gather and exactly how much of it. There is no second recipe to compare against and no alternate path to weigh — the mod defines one recipe, and this is it.

That also means the cost of a XP Tome scales in a straightforward way. Each XP Tome you want costs another four Ender Pearl and another Book. Doubling the output means doubling both inputs.
