Yggdrasil Realm Structures: Locations and Generation Guide
Overview of Major Realm Structures
This guide provides an overview of the major realm structures in the Yggdrasil mod and explains where to find them in your world. Each structure is tied to a specific realm and spawns according to its own placement rules.
Structure Placement Basics
The mod uses two main spacing patterns for structure generation. Most major structures attempt to generate once per 45x45 chunk region, with a minimum distance of 35 chunks between any two of the same structure. Two other structures use a tighter pattern: one attempt per 30x30 chunk region, with a minimum separation of 20 chunks. These numbers mean you will need to explore fairly large areas to locate each structure, and they will never appear clustered close together.
Asgard
Asgard is one of the major realm structures you can encounter. It generates in the biome tag `#yggdrasil:has_structure/asgard`. This means the game checks that tag to decide which biomes are valid for Asgard to appear in. Its generation follows the standard 45x45 chunk region pattern, with one attempt per region and a required gap of at least 35 chunks between separate Asgard structures. When exploring, expect to travel far between sightings.
Vanaheim
Vanaheim is another major structure tied to its own realm. It generates in `#yggdrasil:has_structure/vanaheim`. Like Asgard, it uses the 45x45 chunk region placement with a 35-chunk minimum spacing. Because the biome tag is separate from Asgard’s, Vanaheim can appear in different biome types than Asgard, so you should not assume they share the same environment.
Helheim
Helheim follows the same rules as Asgard and Vanaheim. It generates in the tag `#yggdrasil:has_structure/helheim`. Placement is one attempt per 45x45 chunk region, and structures must be at least 35 chunks apart. This consistent spacing makes Helheim predictable in terms of rarity, but the actual location depends entirely on the biome tag.
Alfheim Tree
The Alfheim Tree is a distinct structure, not a full realm but a major landmark. It generates in `#yggdrasil:has_structure/alfheim_tree`. Its placement matches the larger group: one attempt per 45x45 chunk region, with a minimum of 35 chunks between trees. Because it is a tree rather than a building complex, it may be visible from a greater distance, but you still need to cover ground to find it.
Folkvangr
Folkvangr uses a different, denser generation pattern. It generates in `#yggdrasil:has_structure/folkvangr`. Here, the mod attempts one structure per 30x30 chunk region, and the minimum distance between two Folkvangr structures is only 20 chunks. This means Folkvangr is more common than the 45x45 group, and you are more likely to stumble upon it during normal exploration. Still, 20 chunks is a large gap, so do not expect to see them constantly.
Glaosheimr
Glaosheimr shares the same placement rules as Folkvangr. It generates in `#yggdrasil:has_structure/glaosheimr`. One attempt occurs per 30x30 chunk region, with a 20-chunk minimum separation. Because both Folkvangr and Glaosheimr use this tighter spacing, they are the two most frequently appearing major structures in the mod. Their biome tags are different, so you will find each in its own set of biomes.
Practical Searching Tips
To locate any of these structures, first identify which biome tag applies to the structure you want. Then travel in a grid-like pattern, since the chunk region system means structures are roughly evenly distributed. For the 45x45 group, moving at least 35 chunks in one direction before changing course is a reliable strategy. For the 30x30 group, you can search more locally. Remember that the tags control biome eligibility, so ignoring the tags will make your search much harder.
