Configuring YUNG's Better Mineshafts Y-Levels, Spawn Rates, and Vanilla Mineshaft Settings

YUNG's Better Mineshafts exposes its options through an in-game settings screen rather than through crafting or items. The screen is titled YUNG's Better Mineshafts, and it is divided into sections for spawn rates and related options. Every value below is adjusted directly in that screen; nothing here is toggled by building or combining anything.

Locating the Right Structures

If you use a locate command to find mineshafts, target the mod's own structure tag rather than the vanilla entry. The correct form is /locate structure #bettermineshafts:better_mineshafts. Using the vanilla mineshaft identifier will not point you at the mod's structures.

Vertical Placement

Two fields control how deep or how high a mineshaft's floor may sit.

Minimum y-coordinate sets the lowest possible floor height. Its tooltip explains that this is the bottom limit for where a mineshaft floor can generate.
Maximum y-coordinate sets the highest possible floor height, described as the upper limit for a mineshaft floor.

Raising or lowering these two values shifts the band in which mineshafts appear.

Vanilla Mineshafts

Disable Vanilla Mineshafts is a toggle. Its tooltip states plainly that it controls whether the original, non-mod mineshafts are turned off. Enable it if you want only the mod's version to appear.

Spawn Rates & More

The Spawn Rates & More section holds the tuning options for individual mineshaft components and decorations. Its tooltip notes that these values customize how often various parts and decorations appear.

Lantern Spawn Rate — how often lanterns appear in the main shaft.
Torch Spawn Rate — how often torches appear in small shafts.
Workstation Spawn Rate — how often workstation side rooms appear along the main shaft.
Workstation Cellar Spawn Rate — how often the cellars beneath those workstations appear along the main shaft.
Small Shaft Spawn Rate — how often the narrower tunnels branching off the main shaft appear.
Cobweb Spawn Rate — how often cobwebs appear.
Small Shaft Chest Minecart Spawn Rate — how often chest-carrying minecarts appear in small shafts.
Main Shaft Chest Minecart Spawn Rate — how often chest-carrying minecarts appear in the main shaft.
Small Shaft TNT Minecart Spawn Rate — how often TNT-carrying minecarts appear in small shafts.
Main Shaft TNT Minecart Spawn Rate — how often TNT-carrying minecarts appear in the main shaft.
Abandoned Miners' Outpost Spawn Rate — the percentage chance that an abandoned miners' outpost appears at the far end of a small mineshaft tunnel.
Small Shaft Piece Chain Length — how many segments (straight runs, turns, and similar) make up one small shaft. This value governs how large small shafts end up being.

Ore Deposits

Ore deposits have their own group of settings. Enable Ore Deposits turns the whole feature on or off. The deposit chances are expressed as percentages, and the tooltip warns that all of these values must total exactly 100 — otherwise the results will not behave as intended.

The individual deposit chances are:

Cobble Spawn Chance (Empty deposit) — the percentage chance that a deposit is cobblestone only.
Coal Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains coal.
Iron Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains iron.
Redstone Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains redstone.
Gold Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains gold.
Lapis Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains lapis.
Emerald Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains emerald.
Diamond Spawn Chance — the percentage chance that a deposit contains diamond.

Operating the Screen

Open the mod's settings screen to reach all of these entries. Adjust the y-coordinate fields to set the vertical band, flip Disable Vanilla Mineshafts if you want the original structures gone, and edit the spawn-rate values to change how dense or sparse each mineshaft feature is. For ore deposits, confirm your percentages sum to 100 before leaving the screen. Any hotkeys referenced elsewhere in the mod's interface are bound through the standard controls menu; assign them there rather than assuming a default.
