YUNG's Cave Biomes: Underground Terrain and Its Block Set
YUNG's Cave Biomes reshapes underground terrain. This guide covers the block set it ships and why its recipe list is short.
Blocks, not items
32 pages across 25 blocks and just 7 items. This is a terrain mod, so almost everything it adds is stone, formation and decoration rather than equipment.
Stonecutting covers half the palette
- Crafting — 17 recipes
- Stonecutting — 12 recipes
- Smelting — 2, Smithing Trim — 1
Twelve stonecutting recipes against 25 blocks means roughly half the palette converts between variants directly. For anyone building with this mod's stone, the cutter is the fast route.
The single smithing trim recipe is a small surprise in a cave mod — one decorative armour trim, presumably themed to the new stone.
Both builds are identical
Every category carries the same count on 1.21.1 and 1.20.1. The versions are 3.1.1 on NeoForge and 2.0.5 on Forge, so the version numbers differ substantially while the content does not.
No structures
The mod registers no worldgen structures. That sounds odd for a worldgen mod until you consider what it does: it changes the shape and material of caves themselves rather than placing buildings inside them.
So there is nothing to find in the sense of a landmark — the mod's output is the caves you are already walking through.
Where to start
Go underground. There is no crafting gate, no progression and no structure to locate; the mod's content is terrain you encounter by mining.
Bring a stonecutter back with you — with 12 of the 25 blocks cuttable, that is the cheapest way to work with the new stone.
What to expect
A terrain overhaul with a modest building palette attached, no dependency, and no version difference to account for.
Why no structures is the right answer here
Most worldgen mods on this wiki are measured by their structure list. This one registers none, and that is not a gap — it changes the caves themselves: their shape, their stone, and what grows in them. The output is the environment you mine through, not a building to locate.
The mod in numbers
32 pages, 25 blocks, 7 items, 32 recipes across four categories, 0 structures — identical on both builds despite versions 3.1.1 (NeoForge) and 2.0.5 (Forge) looking a full major release apart.
That parity is convenient: any building palette you assemble underground reproduces exactly on the other line.
