Hyrule Terrors Materials Guide: Chuchu Jelly, Steel, and Bokoblin Forts
Key Materials and Their Uses
Red Chuchu Jelly is a volatile, fire-infused jelly that serves as a useful crafting component. When you have Red Chuchu Jelly, you can craft it into two
Magma Cream items. This conversion makes Red Chuchu Jelly valuable for producing fire-related materials without needing to hunt specific mobs.
Blue Chuchu Jelly acts as a precursor material. You can convert Blue Chuchu Jelly into Red Chuchu Jelly through the standard smelting process. This means you can start with the more common Blue Chuchu Jelly and upgrade it into the more specialized Red Chuchu Jelly whenever you need Magma Cream.
Steel Ingot Production
Steel Ingots are produced through blasting, not regular smelting. To make a Steel Ingot, place an
Iron Ingot into a blast furnace. The blasting process converts the Iron Ingot directly into a Steel Ingot. This is the only recipe available for blasting, so the blast furnace serves a single, focused purpose in this mod.
Regular smelting has only one recipe as well: converting Blue Chuchu Jelly into Red Chuchu Jelly. Do not confuse the two processes — smelting will not produce Steel Ingots, and blasting will not convert Chuchu Jelly.
Bokoblin Fort Structures
Bokoblin Forts are generated structures that appear in specific biomes. They generate in locations that belong to the `#hyrule_terrors:bokoblin_spawn_in` biome tag. The placement system attempts to generate one fort per 28x28 chunk region, and each fort must be at least 8 chunks apart from another fort. This spacing ensures forts are scattered rather than clustered together.
These forts override the normal mob spawning for the `monster` category. This means that within the area of a Bokoblin Fort, regular monster spawns are replaced by the fort's own spawning rules, which typically bring in Bokoblins as the primary hostile inhabitants.
Bokoblin Fort Tree 1
A related structure, Bokoblin Fort Tree 1, generates in biomes that belong to the `#c:is_forest` tag. Like the standard Bokoblin Fort, it uses the same placement rules: one attempt per 28x28 chunk region, with a minimum distance of 8 chunks between each structure. It also overrides monster spawning in its area.
If you are looking for Bokoblin encounters, check forest biomes for the Fort Tree variant and the biomes listed in the `bokoblin_spawn_in` tag for the standard fort. Both structures provide a concentrated source of Bokoblin activity and the loot they guard.
Practical Tips
- Collect Blue Chuchu Jelly whenever you see it, since smelting gives you a direct path to Red Chuchu Jelly and then to Magma Cream.
- Set up a blast furnace specifically for Steel Ingot production, as regular furnaces will not work for this conversion.
- When exploring, use the chunk spacing rules to predict where forts might be. If you find one fort, the next one will be at least 8 chunks away.
- Bring good gear when entering Bokoblin Forts, since the monster spawn override means you will face Bokoblins instead of the usual night mobs.
