Zenith Movement, Reach, and Utility Stats Guide
Movement and Positioning Stats
In Zenith, several attributes govern how your character moves, interacts with the world, and positions themselves in combat or during exploration. These stats are separate from core damage or defense values, and they appear on different gear depending on the activity the item is meant for.
Movement Speed is the most straightforward of these. It measures how fast you travel relative to a normal player’s walking pace. A value of 100% means standard walking speed; higher values make you quicker on foot. This stat is flexible and can appear on nearly any piece of equipment, so you are not locked into a specific armor slot to gain a speed bonus. If you want to cover ground faster while exploring, look for this stat across your whole loadout rather than only on boots.
Swim Speed is a separate modifier that only affects your velocity while in water. Unlike Movement Speed, it does not alter land travel. A Swim Speed of 200% would let you move through water at twice your normal swimming rate. This stat is exclusive to boots, so your footwear choice is the only way to improve aquatic mobility. For traversing oceans, rivers, or flooded caves, prioritize boots with this bonus.
Step Height changes how high a block you can automatically climb without jumping. With a normal step height, you can walk up single slabs or small stairs. Increasing this stat lets you walk onto taller ledges and obstacles seamlessly, which is useful when building or moving through rough terrain. Like Swim Speed, Step Height is only found on boots. Pairing it with high Movement Speed can make overland travel feel much smoother, as you will not need to jump constantly.
Reach and Attack Stats
Reach Distance defines the maximum range at which you can interact with the world. This includes opening chests, pressing buttons, or breaking blocks. If an object is within your Reach Distance, you can manipulate it; if it is outside, you must move closer. This stat is most commonly placed on tools that break blocks, such as pickaxes or shovels. It is not typically useful on weapons, because combat uses a separate range stat. For builders and miners, a higher Reach Distance lets you place or remove blocks from farther away, reducing the need to reposition on scaffolding or ledges.
Attack Range is the combat counterpart to Reach Distance. It determines the maximum distance from which you can hit a mob or player with a melee weapon. This stat is generally found on swords, axes, and other dedicated weapons. Increasing Attack Range gives you a safer distance in fights, letting you strike enemies before they can close in on you. It does not affect block interaction, so do not expect a long-reaching sword to help with mining.
Gravity and Vertical Movement
Gravity controls how quickly you fall, measured in blocks per second squared. A standard gravity value makes you descend at the normal rate. This stat can appear on any item, or possibly on no item at all depending on the gear you find. The key detail is that Gravity can go negative. With a negative Gravity value, you do not fall—you float upward. This opens unusual movement options, such as rising through vertical shafts or hovering over hazards. However, it also means you cannot simply walk off a ledge and land normally, so plan your traversal carefully when using gear with altered Gravity.
Practical Loadout Tips
- For general exploration, combine Movement Speed on any gear with Step Height on boots to cross uneven terrain quickly.
- For underwater areas, swap to boots with Swim Speed and keep your regular land gear for above-ground travel.
- When mining or building, use a tool with Reach Distance to work from a safe or convenient position.
- For melee combat, equip a weapon with Attack Range to keep enemies at a distance.
- Experiment with Gravity only when you are prepared for its effects, especially if it is negative, as it changes your fundamental movement behavior.
