Securing a survival outpost against infected hordes demands layered perimeter barriers, razor obstacles, and lethal mechanized 
Bear Trap emplacements. In post-apocalyptic wastelands, structural barricades buy the critical seconds needed to eliminate fast-moving infected before they breach residential doors and storage facilities. Without proper defenses, night assaults quickly overwhelm solitary survivors.
Mechanical ground traps serve as the first line of defense against charging mutants. Crafting 1 Bear Trap requires durable metals:

In a crafting table, place the Tin Ignot and Bronze Ignot across the horizontal center row (Tin Ignot, Bronze Ignot, Tin Ignot), then place the 2 Iron Ingot in the top middle and bottom middle slots. When placed on ground surfaces around doorways, chokepoints, and ladder bases, the bear trap springs shut when stepped on by zombies, dealing severe blunt trauma and pinning the target in place. Survivors can carefully disarm and reset triggered bear traps to maintain continuous chokepoint control.

Building an effective defensive perimeter relies on funneling hostiles through narrow corridors lined with obstacles:
- Stagger barbed fences around outpost boundaries to slow charging runners and agile infected.
- Place bear traps inside blind corners and narrow two-block corridors where enemies are forced to step.
- Back up wire fences with solid metal fences to prevent brute-force structural collapse during nighttime sieges.
- Keep weapon firing positions elevated above barbed fence lines to pick off trapped targets safely with ranged weapons or long melee polearms.
Maintaining spare traps and replacement wire fences ensures rapid barrier repair after repelling major assault waves.
